Buying A Bike In The US

With the Canadian dollar so strong, I am considering buying a new bike in the US...what paper work is required and would the bike have to be inspected prior to being registered? Thanks.

I'm using a buddy of mine that imports vehicles.. He's safe and reliable.. here's some info about him.
