Thread: Radar Detector Law

    Re: Radar Detector Law

There is a problem with any law (speed limits) which 95% of the population breaks on a regular basis. Such a law needs to be changed.

Let's pass this message on to our elected officials, maybe then rather than ticket people for 15 over they can turn their attention to the real safety threats - tail gaiting, lane changers etc....

Or is that just too easy an idea to beat the system a bit?

I'm not really a speed demon who needs radar protection, but I've always had that idea in my head that if I was to use one, that'd be the best way to protect an investment.
That's a pretty good idea lol

For the same reason income trusts are being taxed now, little people aren't allowed loopholes in a socialist police state.

And laser jammers aren't 100% legal. They are legal to own, legal to have in your car, but ILLEGAL to use on public roads. Like bear spray and nitrous. Unlike RD's there is no specific ban on them, but you can still get an Obstrucing charge, which however puts the burden of proof on the Crown and is a beotch to prove, like Careless. Even if you get off 50/50 getting your jammer back.

but that obstruction charge would be Criminal would it not? In order to obstruct an officer under the criminal code wouldn't he have to be enforcing a criminal code violation?

I've lost 2 Radar detectors over the years, Both of the cops said "I know you have one, Hand it over , No Ticket, If I have to search all through your car your getting a ticket" I just handed them over and went on my way and picked up another in the states.

Next year I'll likely be running a Remote Detector and a Lazer Interceptor Jammer

Removing a parking ticket from under a windshield wiper is obstructing the lawful duty of a peace officer (no joke, somebody in Hamilton was convicted of that). Penalties vary widely, but it is a beotch for the Crown to prove.
