No - they suck, in all ways possible except for drag racing. Save your money and buy:
Michelin
Pirelli's
Bridgestone's
Dunlop.
Shod your bike with good rubber. Not crap.

freaky
Sure for street why not. Its not as if anyone here could tell anyhow what tires they are on lol.
Dem man nah realize de way I do de technology way don't I identify dey oola dem idiot sound bwoy already ya nah rude bwoy
for the people who say the tires are useless, could you please explain why. I'm also interested to see what the feedback is regarding the tires.
Depending on what your needs are.
A Shinko will outlast a Metzler M1 by tripling the mileage, and will give you double the milage of a Bridgestone BT020 (worse set of tires I've ever rode on), and stop short by 2,000 - 3,000 kms to outlasting a Michelin Pilot Road.
I put one on the rear in a pinch late last yr - installed for about $175 (180 rear) It lasted just about 16,000 kms (no burnouts) and there were no chicken strips left on it, it never once broke loose, and was excellent in the rain.
As for the track - I have no experience, but they (slicks) do get very good reviews.
My bike (1200 Bandit) weighs at least 100lbs more than most SS's.
I just put on a set of Metzler Roadtec Z6 recently. *Riding* Southwood Rd a couple days ago instilled confidence with them.
I have no idea why Shinko's are dissed here in Canada. They get excellent reviews in Europe and parts of the US.
I would buy a Shinko again, at the price I mentioned above, but Cycle City won't order any more.
If you get them for your street bike - try out the Shinko "009".

When Yokohama went out of business they sold their motorcycle technology, molds, R&D material etc. to another Japanese company called Shinko. They are excellent tires, with good reviews all over the world. Their pricing reflects the fact that their name (Shinko) is not as well known as Michelin or Dunlop, but the quality is the same if not better. I happen to import scooter and motorcycle tires from Europe, and I know how much they cost to manufacture. The leading names are waaaaay overpriced, and as long customers are willing to pay those prices, they will be!
Anyhow, I have a Shinko 009 on the back, sticks no problem. The weather is turning cooler, and I'll be converting to 005 which is a bit softer tire for cooler weather.
Two thumbs up for Shinko.

I am going to give the 005 skinko's a go on my 929rr, cant beat the price and, the reviews have been great!
I have both F/R 005 and F/R 009 in stock if you want to come in and check them out visually. Very-very nice tires, indeed. 005 are supersport tires (medium) and the 009 are touring ( a bit harder) compound.

In Canada these tires retail for $149 and $189 respectively. It's impossible to do what you're asking $235 otd (tax in).
However this is what I can do. I have a brand new 120/70 front and a slightly used 180/55 rear. It came with my bike when I bought it, but I replaced both tires with 005s. The chickenstrips are still there, the tire has maybe 100 clicks in it.
If this works for You, I could probably do $275 otd. You're saving roughly $110 bucks.

Actually, you CAN tell Shinkos from any other SS bike tire...the tread is very non-sport-bike-ish (maybe making it better in the rain, but nowhere else).
Maybe good for some but not for me - I rode a friend's gixxer last summer with a set of these and HATED them...no lean, no grip and the rear burst on him later in the summer!
Grab a set of raceoffs for $180-250 and you're MUCH better off!!!
Just my $0.02!

I've thought about Shinko but you can find great prices on Pilot powers and I haven't heard a bad word about them. Call me a sucker but there is some peice of mind going with a proven brand name with a proven tire.
