Is a rep system ever coming back?
I know that the old system got removed because people were getting reps for being funny or something.
But useful threads made by useful people, like this deserve to be repped.
Aren't there any alternatives? Like a repping system that would have to have at least 2-3 people repping a post in order for it to be valid? Or moderating the reps given out? In other forums, it's worked really well as you know who's reputable, knowledeable, helpful, knows their stuff & it'd be great to have that on here.

I'll look into something...I'm thinking start slow. Have the moderators only give reps. When someone reaches a certain amount of reps...they can then give reps.
This will be a slow process...but eventually...it should be fairly accurate??

I liked the old one, but only because i was in third place for most rep. Most of the stuff was for entertaining posts whoring myself out for more rep, but I got some for informative posts. it was a popularity contest not a who is more reputable on the site. If i remember correctly it was agave, blackcrowe, myself, then i cant remember if it was vifferfun, yetti, or englishjay (but they were the next names after mine).

That rep system was weak and made almost every thread unbearable since all the rep whores did was beg for more rep points almost every time they posted.
And then there was all the complaining and crying about unfair rep points.
Totally brought this site down and I'm glad to see it gone.

I see it as a pointless waste of time. I'm on plenty of forums and have never seen "reps". Totally arbitrary and more work than it's worth.
Negative, most of the mods cant even be consistent on moderating the forums never mind handing out reps. Just leave it without reps...i see no need for it.Originally Posted by Paul

To make sue that reps aren't given out for funny things outside of romper room, a mod just has to approve all reps given...

No rep system will work to evaluate the "usefulness" of someone's posts. In any form, it will only be yet another popularity contest.
As for mods approving reps---no thanks.. :P
