    Engine died under Hard Acceration

    Hey guys

Had a bit of a scare yesterday, was on my 2007 GSXR 600 and was getting off the lakeshore exit and onto the Gardiner ramp when I overtook a slow truck and put the bike under hard throttle. All of a sudden the engine turned off on me. I was at around 12k rpm and accelerating hard. I just had done an oil change the night before, putting semi synthetic 10w40 as per salesman at Cycle World. I put 2200 ml (or 2.2 liters measured precisely) and a new oil filter. I initially thought I had not tightened the oil filter but there was no oil leaking on the bike, and the bike turned on fine after that. I babied it home but now I'm afraid of pushing it hard.. which is too bad considering its an SS and sometimes I'd want to go into the upper revs. I also thought it could've been the battery but the battery terminal was tight and everything looked good.

I did at the time have my heated jacket and gloves plugged into the battery. Is this a common issue with the gixxers? The bike is all stock except akropovik full exhaust system and HIDs.

heated jacket, and gloves + HID is a pretty significant load on the charging system and at high RPM there is even more load generated.

Did the engine shut off immediately? or slowly lose RPM?

Is there a chance you hit the kill switch accidentally?(it happens a lot)

The engine turned off immediately. Pretty sure I didnt hit the kill switch, but then again, who knows for certain. I'm suspecting maybe the kickstand may have been pulled down a bit, or the sensor acting up around it?

Kickstand switch... 100% guaranteed that this is your problem.
Life is best lived at Wide Open Throttle. Twist the right wrist and watch it all go by.

An unrelated point regarding the 2200 ml oil change... what about checking the dipstick?

    dipstick on a Gixxer?
It's the Least I Could Do

This motorcycle is simply too goddamn fast to ride at speed in any kind of normal road traffic unless you're ready to go straight down the centerline with your nuts on fire and a silent scream in your throat.

I vote for kickstand switch or kill switch.

Tho I'm questioning the amount of oil. I don't have a gixxer, but my zx6 takes over 3l

Nah, gixxer riders are really cool, they just pour oil by eye.

Your service manual should tell you for sure how much oil your bikes takes when the filter is being changed. My old suzuki service manual and new Honda manual all have three different amounts of oil for three different types of changes.
