Not sure... but the one time my old ZX6R sounded like a V twin it was running on 2 cylinders... so I would say check your plug wires... and check your plugs...

What could be causing this rattling? It sounds like a v-twin, happens only on acceleration. Isn't there on reving the engine with pulled clutch, and it doesn't happen on deceleration either. But give it a little gas (little or wot, don't matter), it is "arrrrrrrrrrrrrr", kinda like a vtwin. No loss in power.
What is it?
Bike is K3 Gixxer 1000 btw.

Cam chain tensioner crapped out?
Depends how 'awful' it sounds.... a video/audio clip (if you can get one recorded somehow) might open more diagnosis from other members.
I tried to make a video with my Drift HD. Unfortunately, while the video is superb, the audio sucks
The rattle starts in any gear, maybe even more pronounced if you're at low speed in high gear---then give it a little gas (or a lot of gas)----it's like "ar-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-" while accelerating, the sound is not smooth and nice. Same in low gear---it doesn't seem like it lost power or anything, it's just arh-rh-rh-rh-rh-rh-r while accelerating.
Again---it happens only under load, big or small doesn't matter.
