    Tank bag recommendation

    Hi all!

I'm looking for a tank bag to carry my laptop and some rain gear, maybe spare shoes.

Compact is preferred, inexpensive too but I want it to last and not be a pain in the backside.

    What works for you?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim.

That's complex one. Depends on many variables... size of laptop, mounting preferences etc. Twisted Throttle has a decent selection of Motech stuff, quick lock and standard magnetic/strap mount. The big considerations will be size. I opted for the Nelson Rigg strap mount bags as they were the only one's I could find that would comfortably hold my laptop. The quick lock systems are appealing for the ease of use (and the fact that the bags does not contact the tank surface), but the size was too small for my laptop.

    Thanks!

My current (hoping for an upgrade) laptop is 14.1 X 10 inches, I also carry the power adapter and a usb mouse as well.

I've been using a backpack but it's getting a but ragged, is no waterproof, and can be hot to wear.

I was hoping other regular commuters might have found a good workable solution for less than the price of designer purses....

    Anyone else?

Good point but, I'd assumed the magnets were for attaching the straps and would therefore not be in close proximity to the laptop.
    Is this not the case?

Oxford bags are awesome but a bit $$. they have expandable zippers, and weather protection for rainy days.

I have not seen any tank bags for like a 15"/17" inch laptop size.

    What about a Tail bag?

I have an Icon tank bag, but I never carry my laptop in it - the magnets are very strong and accidentally can damage my laptop.
When I need to carry the laptop I use a backpack (not the perfect solution for hot summer days - the laptops straps cover shoulder ventilation on my jacket)

Exactly why I don't want to buy another ( replacement ) backpack.

Tail bag maybe but, I had a bad experience with one in the past ... I arrived but it didn't .

I personally love my AXIO Tank bag. I would never carry my laptop in it tho. I use the AXIO hardpack for that.

    Re: Tank bag recommendation

I wouldn't get a tank bag for a laptop. The magnets are VERY strong for one. Second, depending on the riding position on the bike you're using it on, it may get in the way.

What brand tail bag did you have by the way??

I use this tank bag that I purchased from McBrides, so that's a good indication of how old it is and it still looks brand new, even after heavy use.
