    Bell Fibe 25/7

So I'm getting this plan installed next week. Anyone else have it? Post up your numbers from a speed test if you do please. I'm told that its the best connection for the price for residential use.

That probably because its a promo deal right now. You get 25/7 for $60 a month plus modem rental.

    Re: Bell Fibe 25/7

everyone is so obsessed about the potential top speed of uploads and downloads but fail to realize the gb limit nobody wants to mention.

The other thing nobody mentions is that unless you have a fast enough rig, the actual IE or Firefox or whatever cannot keep up with the speed that the information is DL...

i'm on DSL and my pages load as fast as i can click....the diff is that i'm on unlimited plan and dont have to worry about my usage.

Here;s a very good analogy....would you rather have a GSXR1000 with 1L of gas or an SV650 with 17L of gas?

Well yeah, my buddy is an owner of a smaller company. His stuff goes through bells lines but from what I hear so does anyone else except if the use rogers. I'm getting the upgrade for a serious deal but I just wanted to know if anyone else already has it and if they are getting advertised speeds. I'm an online gamer so the better the connection, the better games you tend to play.

I had Bell. Yes it was 'fast' if only one person was doing something. You wanted to use the computer?, better shut down the DL's. F'ing useless Bell.

    Teksavvy..... /end thread.

    same results here.

My folks got bumped up to the FIBE 16, when I did speedtests they were getting results of 15.5-15.7 Mbps at their PC.

Gonna be switching to teksaavy though, it's too expensive especially with that stupid limit.

This motorcycle is simply too goddamn fast to ride at speed in any kind of normal road traffic unless you're ready to go straight down the centerline with your nuts on fire and a silent scream in your throat.

remember guys...with the fiberoptic cable being used now allowing these speeds, its hard for them to say "oooh your line doesnt support this speed..." BS.

i just called Teksavvy, still nothing faster than 6K/800 in my area....dang nabbit.

Lol, I'm with Velcom.. 400GB and it's cheaper than Teksavvy 300GB, plus I save some cash on static IP. Data rates (actual speeds) are actually in the 25/7 ballpark.

The fiberoptic cable is only to the curb and not to your home in a GREAT majority of cases, plus they haven't upgraded their network everywhere. Even some areas of Toronto/Mississauga can't even get full 5056/800 sync.

I haven't shopped around since I got TekSavvy... I guess its the 18mb service now, and I routinely see full out 2MB/sec downloads (torrents) so it's been absolutely wonderful. Though they did jack the price up recently.

I download the hell out of tv shows and movies, and so far I haven't reached the 300GB limit... I'm not aware of any way to check my status.

yes, but the biggest problem with DSL was the attenuation loss over distance across the phone line....repeaters placed in neighbourhoods helped that...Now...with the fiber-optic cable running to your streets junction box the only attenuation you gotta worry about is a few hundred meters...hence the reason they can kick the speeds up.

Don't forget that they still plug the router into the phone line in your house, not the fiber optic line.

Fiber optics only run to the external box that feeds the houses. Standard cables to the house from there.

My wife alone runs close to 200 just watching her soaps. Since I also wanted to run a server, I wanted to leave a bit of room, not so much for my own traffic, but more for any possible probings by enterprising folk who don't have much respect for law or decency for that matter.
