As the great Dr. Seuss said

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

lol screw 'em. Figuratively of course . It might just be a harmless chuckle on their part but if it's a daily snicker then don't worry about it all the same. I'm kind of surprised to hear that people have this attitude these days, sounds like a cliquey bunch. Don't try for their approval, not the kind of people you should waste your time with.

Better Yet ….next time they give you that look, take them outside, tell them to take off all there clothes and run as fast as they can then dive like super man on the pavement like a slip and slide..... then ask them if that hurt ….. If they say YES ask them to do it again but this time with your jacket and pants.....see what they say after that

Thanks for the replies. None of the ones that really make comments even ride bikes. There are a few cruiser riders that make fun of my ninja, and I totally expected that.

I do think allot of them are ignorant and think riders should be wearing minimal gear to look cool. I guess that's why they don't ride. I guess the best comment I have is that I ride and they don't. If they buy a bike, gear and show me an example of what to wear maybe we can talk.

That said I don't ride angry, and I don't get angry at cage drivers. I do brush stuff off pretty easily, it just seemed like a situation to me that allot of us must have come across.

Maybe they are just jealous that you'll be enjoying the ride home while they're stuck in their cages!!
This is extremely unlikely. While we as bikers like to think that everyone else is jealous of us; they aren't. Typically, people here believe we're mostly psycho's that have no regard for our own well-being, and will risk life-and-limb just to commute home.

I think you need to relax a bit, and don't react to this at all. And should you choose to react, I hope you do so in a humorous way (i.e. not like a sensitive sally, like some of the comments above)

The only comment I get is "Isn't that leather extremely hot?" to which I'd say that I'd rather sweat than bleed.

Why am I not surprised this happens in the GTA? Such a classy bunch of folks in this town, overcompensating for a chronic lack of self-esteem by making fun of someone different from them... literally pity-full.

You ride a motorcycle, dude. You live life more in 5 minutes of doing that than they probably ever will in their entire lifetimes. You've won before the battle even began. Sun Tzu would be proud.

Also I would like to say that I disagree with this. I've never met anyone who thinks this. Maybe riders from the 1970s had this going for them, but times have changed, and the attitudes of most people I meet regarding motorcycling are envious of our voracity for life, not fearful that we're Hell's Angels or something.

Wow are you serious? I don't know what kind of negative paranoid people you associate with, but people I know are generally positive and wish they could hop onto a bike and ride!

You're getting snickering, and you want to smash them in the head? Am I the only one thinking the OP is complaining and over-reacting over nothing?

    Re: Workplace Jerks...

I had a coworker who saw me go down in Twyn Rivers not even stop to help, but had time to come up in my face a week later and tell me that he saw me crash but wanted to get home cuz it had been a long day. Do you, my brotha, I made the mistake of assuming just cause me and this dude work our buts off in the same place right next to each other that this somehow meant he would be cool. Dont let em bother you, they just hating cuz they see you doin something you actually enjoy and they probably dont even have the guts to try. Unless your gear happens to consist of glad bags, duct tape and a pair of Uggs they have no right to laugh or snicker at anything you wear. Look at it this way, at least now you know which of your co workers are backstabbing DBags, now you wont have to waste your pee if they catch fire.

I've only spoken to a few people who have absolutely no desire to hop on a motorcycle. The rest fall into one or both of these categories, usually both. Lots of people think we're crazy but many of those same people still expressed a desire to at least try riding but don't due to fear, finances, concern for loved ones, etc. Regardless, just about every single person I talk to about the subject is envious of either riding or the freedom that comes with it. Just ride and be happy
