    Cool Hello gtam!

    Hey Guys,

I'm new here and wanted to say hello to ya'll. I'm a 30 year old male from Milton.

Why am I here? Well, after years of contemplating on getting an M2 licence, I am finally doing it. Back in 1998 when I just got my M1 and about to purchase a used GS500, a friend of mine got into a motorcycle accident. I then had to put my pursuit to riding on hold.

Fast forward 14 years and here I was at my local honda dealer getting an oil change. I was walking around with my wife and was looking at their bikes on the floor. They had a GS500 and I sat on it. I felt I was back in '98 and man was it a good feeling! Later that week I booked a spot at RTI.

I plan to get a bike this riding season. My budget is $3-$3.5K for a used bike. I haven't ridden any 250 (Ninja nor CBR) and due to my height and size (6'2", 215 lbs) they may be too small. But, I shall reserve this judment until my lesson at RTI...they should have a couple of 250s to ride on. I prefer staying with standard/ naked bikes and I'll be using the bike for commuting from Milton to Mississauga. I had my eye on SV650, but insurance is a bit higher compared to 250 and 500. My insurance rates would drop in half after I get my full M licence. I will then get the bike I really want: the Gladius . For now I'll just get a used cheap bike, such as:

    Ninja or CBR 250
    GS500
    Suzuki TU250

So, I'll let you know which bike I end up with. I am open for suggestions since I am returning to this after a long time.

Anyways, I am looking forward to riding again and hope to see some you soon.

    Cheer!
    Anoop

PS: if there's anyone going to RTI during Aug 4th weekend let me know.

Welcome to the forums and riding!
I too, have been postponing riding for the same reasons- somebody i knew had been seriously injured in an accident.
I am finally on the road, and enjoying it more than I expected- I wish I have done this earlier!

    So...have fun!!!

Welcome to the forum and ride safe on a side note I had my eye on the gs, sv and gladius (street fighter) as well. I ended up going with a 2011 Ninja 250r. For the record I am 230lb and 6'3". The bike doesn't feel cramped for me like the cbr 250 did. It has more of a 600 body style with the tame and insurance easy 250 engine. I highly recommend that bike. All the best of luck and if you have any questions about the ninja feel free to ask
