I know! I don't know what the reporters difficulty was understanding him. I'm born here, my folks is Trini and I work with Jamaican guys whose accents are way stronger than this. I thought it would be the real patois. I knew a girl years back who spoke the real patois with her grandmother, but I have never heard it spoken since by anyone else. It wasn't just english with Jamaican undertones, I mean it was a full on other language(maybe French in origin, Im not sure). Anyone know?

And she told me the language she was speaking was patois before anyone asks if im sure it was patois.

LOL.. yeah I know what you mean. I used to work at an IT dept in a hospital, my boss was a Jamaican guy, I had such a hard time understanding him in the beginning, but after about a month I could understand him easily. As for the language, The term patois comes from french, from patois "incomprehensible speech, rude language". It can refer to pidgins, creoles and other forms of native or local speech. My girl is from a country called Mauritius. So patios or creole is one of her native tongues, so over the years I have been able to understand and pick up most of it.

OK, thks I see where my problem was , I believed patois to be of jamaican origin, I shoulda been thinking on a wider scale. Wait a sec.... did you just fill my brain with knowledge? WTF dude I was saving that spot for some erb, lol

Re: The state of Hip Hop

It's is sad really. I grew up listening to hip hop and rap in the late 80's and early 90's and I find myself trying to listen to it now and getting really ******. They sing about the most rediculous things and it has no meaning. Not just hip hop though, the lyrics to most songs now a days sucks really bad.
