Hey GTA Motorcycle members! I've been a member of this site long before I got my hands on my motorcycle. First off, my name's Jesse, I'm from London and go to school at McMaster studying automotive engineering. I've been a big fan of cars for years and restored a 1967 Suzuki M31 a couple of years ago.
Now, I'd like you to meet "Piglet, the littlest hog":

So as you might have guessed, Piglet's not a hog, but rather a 1982 Yamaha XS400.
I bought Piglet last summer for $750. It needed a carb rebuild and a couple of components to get running. So the news is that Piglet passed a safety inspection today and is one step closer to riding free on the open road.
What I'm wondering is if anyone shares my appreciation for the Yamaha XS400? Are there any Yamaha dealers that still carry parts for these bikes in the GTA?

Appreciation? I personally love my XS. Everything from easily accessible spark plugs, and choke cable, to the gas mileage. It's a great starter bike to learn mechanical stuff, and to ride as well. Great in between the 250 and 600 ccs.

I got a brake lever/pedal online, and a turn signal lens from snow city dealer. Online in your best bet for these guys.

Welcome back and I have to say I like your style of bike. I have a similar one and loved riding it. I have upgraded now and the old girl is sitting in the garage dreaming of the days when she was roaring down the open roads.

Welcome my first bike was a '79 XS 650 Special. Kinda miss it, but sometimes get the chance to tool around on my nephew's 750 Virago.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I forgot I had a post on here a long time ago about air filters. Turns out over the winter I got super attached to Piglet's shape and decided I was going to leave it relatively stock (so no bobber project for this one). I may go into upgrading hardware on it when the need arises such as putting in a brighter headlamp for night rides on the highway or switching over to LED indicators. Over this off season the xs400 and GTA motorcycle websites have been my saving grace for a lot of common problems. Thanks everyone for being such a big help!
