One person is in hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Markham on Wednesday morning.
York Regional Police said one of two people on the motorcycle suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to hospital.
The person's condition wasn't immediately available.
The motorcycle's second occupant was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash, which occurred on Birchmount Road near Denison Street at about 7:30 a.m.
Police said southbound Birchmount Road is closed between McNabb and Denison streets to allow officers to conduct an investigation at the scene.
Because of the closure, the TTC's 17 Birchmount buses are diverting in both directions via Denison, Warden and McNabb.

Motorbike crash closes Markham intersection
The intersection of Birchmount Road and Denison Street in Markham is closed this morning after a serious single vehicle collision, York Regional Police warn.
The crash, which occurred at about 7:30 a.m., involved a man and woman on a Suzuki motorcycle.
Both were taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries, police said.
