Did I ever say I didn't trust anyone? I posted the problem on the thread, went to work, bought oil, and problem solved...

This was post #25 - you have just confirmed that your oil level is PERFECT - between the 2 lines. it does not matter what your oil level is when the engine is running. the sight glass is only there for checking oil when your bike is off, and level. As klr_guy hinted, you need not be concerned with the oil level in the sight glass when the engine is running.
In post #33, you say you were down 500ml? but in post #25 your oil was fine?!
And NO, being low by 500ml of oil , if true, will not cause white smoke to come out your exhaust.

The oil kept changing, it was fine, then dropped below the lines, then went back to fine. I added 500 ml to get the oil level from the lower part of the lines to the upper, and this seemed to fix my smoking problem and the ticking went away. What your saying sounds right, that a 500 ml deficit wouldn't cause white smoke, but I added that much and the problem no longer exists, so it seems to have done something.

Who said I didn't listen? Another poster said that the smoke coming out of the front end was because of excess oil on the exhaust, so I ran it for an extra 2 min to see if the smoke would continue or cease. I was hesitant to put more oil in as I had already put in the maximum amount of oil and was afraid to just cram more oil into the bike.
Sorry if you felt left out...but rest assured I feel smarter and more confident because of your suggestion.
Can I add something? Ticking is almost never something that can be fixed by a valve adjustment in a modern bike, unless the last adjustment was done by a gorilla with Parkinson's. Valve clearances DECREASE over time as the valves wear into the head, and tighter valve clearances get QUIETER, not louder.
9 times out of 10 ticking is gas escaping the head somewhere, either at the exhaust gasket, spark plug gasket, or head gasket.
