Lake Erie (Dunnville to Selkirk) with RAM Mounted GoPro

So after trying the side mount using GoPro parts I picked up a RAM mount plus 6" and 18" arms. Here's today's video with the 6" arm attached to the passenger foot peg mount.

I have a test vid of what I'd like to do with the 18" arm here: http://jonp.ca/FdZY The 18" arm needs to be stabilized and supported somehow. Even fully tightened, it seems like it would fall under the weight of the GoPro. (Ignore the title of the vid. Sounds pornographic, haha.)

Also, a suggestion for the mods. Perhaps a sticky for GTAM riders who make their own videos. Rather than everyone creating new threads each time we could just post in one giant thread. Or has this been tried before?

For the past 2 yrs I have been oggling the F800R...and the Bonneville....and the Guzzi V7.

Funny thing...all 3 smaller twins.

I am surprised that I really like the sound of your bike......What pipe?

It's got the Akrapovic straight from BMW. Plus I use a Zoom H1 mic to capture the bassy sound much more accurately than the GoPro mic.

Budd's BMW is having a demo day on May 20th. Give them a call and you might be able to try out an F800R!

I would really like to try one out before I throw money at the KTM's suspension.
I want sportbike wheels, tires, brakes and suspension...with a tubular handlebar, naked punch-in-the-face styling, close to 100hp, and as much torque as I can get,LOL

QEW and Bronte Rd. Great sales and service department. I live in Toronto but ride out there because of the guys who work there.

Yeah, the F800R hits your requirements pretty well. It's very fun, flickable, and very torquey in the twisties but reasonably rideable when you want to calm down as well (thanks to the low end torque). There are a couple of issues (vibrations and wind at high speed) but normal for a naked.

I recommend the F800R, but try a Street Triple and Monster 796 for comparison sake.

The F800 is a great overall bike, but be aware of its shortcomings. Esp for an experienced rider like yourself. Its major flaws IMHO, are it needs more power, and the stock suspension is utterly crap.

I only mention this because 1) you mentioned that you would have to throw money at the KTM suspenders, and you would have to do the same with the F800. 2) for a guy weaned on intoxicating high revving Gixxer power, the F8 runs out of breath quite easily, but does have gobs of torque. Great for the city, and hustling out of corners.

Take one for a boot and form your own opinion, but keep these points in mind.

Youre right there Sandro...the Nuda is a dreambike for me...if it came with switchable ABS.
I am fairly satisfied with the suspension performance on the KTM (it is truly high end fully adjustable stuff), but the 35" seat height is my issue. I have become pretty good at mastering it on pavement, but with Conti coming out with knobbies in 17" sizes, I think I need the seat 3" lower, cuz I know I am gonna get off the beaten path. Problem is that by lowering it, I will be sacrificing cornering clearance...On sport touring tires, I already find myself dragging pegs alot, and lowered it will become alot worse. However, the KTM is the single coolest bike I have ever owned. It sounds and looks awesome, and makes me do bad stuff....How many bikes can go comfortably peg dragging around a corner, then hop over a curb and ride down a flight of stairs, then go squirelly tail sliding down a gravel laneway, thru a ditch and back onto a highway for a 500 km drone?


The F800R even has a skidplate available, and seat height is very manageable. I am guessing it could use more power (which the Nuda is supposed to address), and when it comes to bike styling, ugly and industrial are right up my alley, so, like my KTM, the F800R and the Nuda get my blood pumping. The F800R would have to become apseudo ADV bike for me to love it.
Biggest issue with the Nuda will be the same as my KTM-seat height.

I have also been eyeing the Guzzi V7 and Triumph Bonneville lately too. I guess I only need my high revving 4cyl bikes at the track,LOL. The GSXR1000 was a fantastic bike...I should never have sold it. I should have instead adapted a dirtbike bar setup to it, and turned it into a naked bike. Oh well.
