Bleeding brakes on a VFR800 with ABS and linked brakes!

I'm looking for a little insight on the correct procedure to bleed brakes on a VFR800.

The factory service manual is full of crap instruction, VFRD and VFRWorld don't have any concrete tutorials or answers. I have 7 bleed screws, and I'm sure I've got the order down correct.

I have speed bleeders installed which make it super easy, but I'm a little hazy on a couple of steps. Especially the secondary master cylinder on left front caliper.

If you've done this, and wouldn't mind answering this question..

When it says to manually operate the secondary master cylinder on the left front caliper, hardly any fluid comes out of the proportional control valve bleeder; do I use the front lever to maintain pressure to flush that line? and then continue pumping the SMC manually?

I did this last year on my 2000 VFR.
I don't have ABS, but I do have the combined brakes and 7 bleeders. I don't know that the speed bleeders help a lot on anything but the 2 "front" bleeders on the front calipers.
I used a vacuum bleeder and 2 litres of DOT 4 to clear the whole system.

As for the secondary master, it will pass fluid from the primary master while it's (the secondary) in the relaxed position. So, pump the hand lever.

    That seems a little much.

I thought there was a good tutorial on vfrd about brake bleeding..... I know i have had a heck of a time... let me see if i can find something for you

Not sure if this will help

Here is the order of bleeding

    - Front Brake
    - Right outer
    - Left outer
    - Rear brake
    - Right Center Front
    - Left Center Front
    - (remove and Tilt the left Caliper to 15 degrees - to release any air bubbles to the PCV)
    - PCV
    - (remove wheel and rear caliper, move to 2 o'clock position)
    - Rear Center
    - Rear

That's becuase you've never done a brake hose swap on a VFR with linked brakes. It takes a lot of bleeding to clear all those lines.

Sweet, this was one of my concerns. I'm going to leave the caliper on and just use the hand lever to bleed the PCV valve on the battery side!

The VFR800 has a linked braking system with 7 bleed screws. I just replaced most of the fluid and I've used about 3/4 litre of fluid. It's crazy!

That order is very different than the factory service manual..

The order I have from the FSM is

    1. Left front caliper, upper/outer bleed screw
    2. Right front caliper, single bleed screw
    3. Proportional Control Valve (PCV), battery side
    4. Rear caliper, inner/centre bleed screw
    5. Proportional Control Valve, opposite battery side
    6. Rear caliper, upper/outer bleed screw
    7. Left front caliper, inner/centre bleed screw:

Finally got this all figured out and decided to make a tutorial thread over at VFRDiscussion if anyone else runs in to these issues!
