What are your times right now....why are you changing your gearing??

you can do a couple of different things at tmp ona 600 to make you faster with gearing. you can gear very low for tmp but may lose some smoothness on entry. I find keep things smooth makes me faster so I gear to go well into 5th on the strait but dont use 6th at all. find what s comfortable for you.

Gearing is the next thing i'm going to change on my bike.
It's got a 520 on it now from the previous owner, but stock ratios.

I'll keep this thread as reference.

    03 ZX6R
    Front -1
Rear +2 (didn't have +3 in stock and didn't have the patients to wait)

I find it's a good combo, able to navigate the infield without any inconveniencing gear changes. Probably better with a higher rear depending on the bike.

    Re: Tmp gearing?

Final drive ratio about 0.9 x stock on my 400 ... this is pretty close to what the 600cc riders are saying also, if you crunch the numbers.

    Re: Tmp gearing?

I know it's not really useful for 600 riders but it may be useful to some.

I ran my 2004 10R at -2+3 around TMP. 2nd gear through the entire infield and fairly deep into 5th on the front straight. Worked well for me but requires such a subtle wrist.
