    If its like the chevs it might have a rubber type u joint at the tranny side. So no fluid would leak.

    the amount of money you spend on removing this or rethinking that is probably more then 500 bucks ... so if you are after gas mileage, why don't you buy an old POS and drive the crap out of it for the next year ... and take your 'decent' car off the road temporarily ... here :

    drive this for a year and you'll come out ahead ... when your done with it, it'll be worth at least 1k at trade in to someone (isn't there a clash for clunkers equivalent for 1k from the government ?)

    My snowblower uses a lot of gas, if I remove the auger system will it get better?

    Yes, and if the winter is like the last one, it won't even matter that it won't work as a snowblower any more!

    Sorry I made a mistake. Cadillac cts and sts have a rubber isolator between both faces of the driveshaft and transmission joints.

    The equinox has a round ball and socket type front u joint. It is held to the output of the transmission/transfer case by 6 bolts.
