I feel your pain. But at least the pills do something for you to control your pain. For me they did nothingonly surgery worked.
If you can hang on longer wait, it may go away on its own, it did for me several times over a lot of years. However in the end I had do do the surgery.
I always felt like cutting my leg off too from the zapping, numbness burning and all the other lovely stuff.
Great that you have someone that supports you like your wife, it helps. I had my girlfriend with me all the time supporting me when I was down.
Look at it this way, your life right now: no riding, no gym or running, no work, no fun.
Your life later: riding, running and back to work
