Drilling holes into metal (to make a givi base plate fit)

    Hey everyone,

So I got a one-off rack made for my SV1000S so that I could mount a givi top box on it.

So I bought the monokey baseplate and go to mount it to the rack and low and behold the holes don't line up (not anyones fault, I was told it would mount up no problem but it was from a different forum member than the person who actually made the rack for me...)

Anyways I was wondering where I could go in order for a shop to drill into the metal top plate for me. I have ideas about where the mounting holes could be drilled but I'd want a second opinion as well.

Anyone know someone who could do this? I really don't think it's a big job I just don't have a powerful enough drill to get through the metal (crap canadian tire discount drill)

    Any help appreciated!

Ummm, dude, these are excuses we men look for to buy power tools! You can rent a drill if you don't get any help.

Same thing happened with me. Make your marks for your holes, drill with a regular steel bit then use a countersink bit. I would be happy to post up pics of what I had to do for my Givi. I would help you but I'm not exactly close by and I borrowed the countersink bit - this is critical -the countersinking is important as the case sits flush on the mount.

Its not likely the drill , its the bits. Sharp bits drill steel like butter. If you want to come to Milton your welcome use all the hole making stuff you could hope for.
