This is just something for the house, something that can be taken from room to room. Or something to take when travelling, its easier to take that over the 17" laptop.
Not trying to start a fanboy thread, there is already one for that. I just don't know the advantages of each one.

I also have a few fundamental issues with Android. Most importantly is the upgrade process. When Google releases a new version of Android, unless you have a Nexus product, you have to wait for the maker of your product to customize the new version and release it to you. With a big risk that they won't update it at all and then you're stuck using older software. Ice Cream Sandwich has been out for five months now and a lot of the older products still do not have support for it. Here's a stat, http://9to5google.com/2012/03/06/ice...raised-to-4gb/, where only 1.6% of Android products used ICS. In comparison, IOS5 is at around 75% adoption last I checked. That's great for consumers on two fronts, they get the latest software without hassle, but also developers only need to focus on creating apps for one version of ios.
Also the Android guys seem to have forgotten that some people like myself do like to use their tablets in portrait mode. Apple's 4:3 screen ratio makes it a perfect compromise for portrait and landscape use. Most of the Android tablets use a 16:10 or 16:9 screen ratio, great if your primary usage is watching videos, ****** if you use portrait mode for reading.

First off, in the interest of avoiding another flame war..... there is *nothing wrong* with the ipad.
PlayBook is an incredible bang for the buck. Period.
OP, if you can hold out for a bit, check out the new ultra thin Asus Transformer Infinity TF700 tablet,
It runs googles latest and most excellent Ice Cream Sandwich OS, it sports a bigger screen than iPad at 10.7 inches, touts longer battery life at 12 hours vs IP3's 9 hours, a quad core processor, gorilla glass, 8mp cam vs IP3's 5mp, is thinner and lighter then iP3.
It has a high resolution screen, not quite as high as IP3, but quite close, so the display should be quite clear and stunning as well.
Why not get more out of your tablet if you are going to start spending in the $500+ range for one? The Asus Transformer ticks all the boxes.

Playbook all the way... its a smalll screen but very crisp and easy on the eyes. I love it!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the info everyone, I am going to have to check it out and look for info on the new tablet also. Each one has things I like about it. What I will have to do is spend some time at one of the shops where I can play with them and check it out.

Quick question. We have two playbooks at home and both freeze up playing you tube videos. Anyone else have this problem? The iPhone has no issues.

I've just recently got the PB and I love it too. Have nothing to compare it to as it's my first but happy happy happy for the price I paid and what I use it for.
Only thing that sucks is the cell phone plan which states no tethering from my BB but that has 0 to do with the PB
Here is my opinion.
If you just want something for some quick web browsing while sitting around the house, Im sure any tablet on the market will do what you want just fine. It then just comes down to price and preference.
If you will actually be travelling with this device on a regular basis and if you intend to visit places where there is a greater chance of it getting stolen, don't get something expensive. Get something that you wouldnt be all upset about if it was stolen or breaks. A year ago I bought a $200 10" samsung netbook mostly for travel purposes. I picked it because it was the most affordable solution for my needs. Its not nearly as elegant or compact as a tablet but it was close enough and does the job.. The tablet market has grown a lot lately and the playbook at $200 is a pretty good deal although I think 7" might be a bit small so if you would like 10" you might need to spend a bit more..
If you're willing to spend $400+, I would also consider just buying another smaller laptop, maybe a 14" one. At the end of the day tablets are not as useful as a laptop and if they priced the same, my preference would be the laptop any day.
It can be anything.......usually something longer than a couple minutes and it freezes up.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the best all around, versatile tablet in the market to date...pretty pricey, but you get alot of tech for the money.

Check my previous posts and you'll see I was a huge Apple/iPad sceptic. I got one and now my laptop stays in my bag unused all weekend while I have the iPad out. I haven't missed as many websites as I thought I would due to the flash option and the OS is just polished. For comparison sakes I have an Android phone and a Windows 7 convertible tablet laptop, all are great at their own thing but the iPad really is a well polished product. I won't be upgrading to the iPad3 anytime soon though as I just don't feel like I miss a crisper screen and I never use the camera on the iPad2. I bought the 3G 64MB version of the iPad2 but I get data through my android phone using it as a hotspot and haven't bothered activating the SIM for the iPad.
