New from Brampton

Hey everyone, Jason here from Brampton.
Not currently a bike owner but i have wanted one for years and i am tired of making excuses and have to make it happen soon.
love driving my Dodge Challenger to the limits, but i dont think it even compares to riding a motorbike.
Hoping to get a Sport or Sport/Cruiser, not really sure what the technical difference is, but i hear its pretty big when it comes to Insurance. Thinking a 600cc, i heard is good place to start and still has some power. found a good Thread on Insurance i have to go through, maybe someone can give me a basic idea of what kind of damage i would be looking at, keep in mind i dont have my license yet and have ZERO years of riding experience. is it possible i would be able to get insurance for less than $2000? i dont think i could afford much more than 150/200 a month. i got the impression it might be closer to 3000$ +?
anyway waiting on a call back from Statefarm, hoping for good news.

Welcome to the forum. If your looking to push your bike to its limits that fine... but go to the track and keep it off the street.

no worries, i would definitely keep it for the track, as i do with my challenger.
insurance is bad enough without tickets or accidents.
besides without any bike experience, i think i would have to keep tame for a while, cars are a lot more forgiving than motorcycles when it comes to accidents.

Welcome to the forum!! As for insurance, if you go with a sport/touring, cruiser, or under 600cc bike - my recommendation is Jevco (I deal with them - might be around $1500 - 2000 for the first year), but if you go for a sport model you'd have to try State Farm, or maybe TD - or worse case scenario: Facility (I deal with them too and it's going to be $3000+). Best thing to do is find a few bikes you like and call around for quotes.

i actually got a quote from RidersPlus, and i was very suprised it was only going to be around 1200 for 2007 suzuki GS500F or a 2006 Kawasaki NINJA EX650R.
i guess being old is finally giving me an advantage ..LOL

if your over 25 and going for a 600cc sportbike, I would suggest statefarm. They are by far the cheapest.

I really wouldn't sugguest a ss for your first bike though if you like pushing your limits in your car. It will be hard not to push the bike to the limits when your learning, its very easy to twist the wrist and accellerate very hard, that 90 degree turn coming up ahead will be your issue.

Well as much as i would like a superSport, i am trying to take the advise of you guys and start with something like a 600cc.
at least for the first few years. hopefully after 3 years when i have some experience, the insurance on a SuperSport would be a little more affordable to.
