What happened?
There's no way to delete an account on vBulletin. An admin would have to do it, at their discretion. But then it fudges up topics, because all your posts just appear as posted by "Deleted user" (or something along those lines).

That's the old method. In vBulletin 4.x, it's Alt-F4 now.
