Looks really good to me! 300-ish km a day should be easy to do.
|
With recent events and the sheeeaaat that has fallen in my parking lot the last couple days, I find myself searching Google Maps more and more.
with that being said.....I would like to plan a weekend away in the spring.
Because of my lifestyle i can wait to pick the perfect weather weekend.
Meaning I don't have to book anything ahead of time.....I can go at a drop of a hat if the weather is looking favorable.
Last summer I rode down to Maggy Vally and took 219 all the way down.
I really enjoyed going through Pennsylvania and would like to explore it more.
With the the help of Motorcycleroads.us I have put together 3 maps
1) Friday afternoon getting down there.
2) Saturday leisurely ride.
3) Sunday scenic ride and home.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Am I missing anything important?
Am I trying to do too much in a day?
That kinda thing

Looks very similar to my route.
I would suggest going further on day one and ride day 2 around the Williamsport area. That's we're the roads get really good .

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
Why would you by pass 120? It was one of my favourite roads going through Renovo and Hyner view.

You can ride more on Saturday! Skip 44 and ride the lower portion of 144 to Mooshannon, top up your fuel tank in Renovo !!! On Sunday, take 120 from Lock Haven to St.Marys. Side trip up to the Hyner View Lookout Is highly recommended,if you never been there!

Simoncelli apparently was asked if he was afraid of dying in a racing accident & he responded: "NO. You live more for 5 minutes going fast on a bike like that than other people do in all of their life."

Oh, I see your point.
I cannot remember if I rode the 120 yet. Will look it up now.
Thanx.
I rode the 44 in both directions the time I rode it in 1 day. Solo riding by myself. It kept me alert as I was rather swift on the return trip trying to beat the sun setting. Had to look out for the deer.
Just looked and I have not ridden the 120. This year!

I used Bellefonte as a base for Saturday night.
I'll assume Sunday ends in St. Marys and just shoot over to 219 and head home.
Hyner View Lookout...sorry don't know where that is
Info on Hyner View here:

When traveling on 120, you want to go north on Hyner Run Road (just east of Renovo) to the entrance/road that will take you to the top. Be careful on that road, it's narrow and some four wheelers like to travel partially in your lane!

This is just like a route that I did with a buddy last year. Hwy 666 is a wild ride, but if the sign says bend ahead... Pay attention and take it slow. There is one deadly bend there about 10 mins from the west end, heading east, it took my buddy down and had to be air lifted out. He is good now, but not a good scene then. Police told us later that a few have died on that bend. Not to be a downer, just do not want anyone else to be taken out by the 666!
lots of great rides in that area, you will like it.
Oh, and wear your gear, that state has no helmet laws. Don't be tempted, or at least not on some of those twisties.
Enjoy but ride safe.
Skip 6 altogether. Too much traffic nd towns (and cops).
Once you are on 120, make a side trip on Wycoff Run. It is not to be missed. If you have another day, Head a couple hrs south to Ravine and turn back northward on Rt 125...it is the best road I have found in PA yet.

If you are headed south on 44 towards Ravine area, (which is is a great road with one of my favourite styles of rythm to ride), go right onto 664..it is only a short ride to Jersey Shore, but it is really fun and in great shape.
Then south of LockHaven jump onto 445 up and over the mountain. Nice road and incredible panaroamic views of the whole valley floor below. Great photo ops and switchback turns too.
Then use 235 to sweep your way south towards Ravine.....and get onto 125 and head north again.
