You already know your answer but what the hell. Wait until March 14. There won't be that much sitting and waiting. Patience grasshopper

Hello,
About me:
I am 23, with a Careless Driving charge (Nov, 2009), and riding a 2009 Ninja 250r.
After I officially purchase my first motorcycle in the next few days, it turns out that I have the following two options for insurance:
a) Coverage with start date before 1st anniversary (March 14, 2012) of motorcycle license: $4000
b) After anniversary: $2033
Those quotes are thru Jevco, from Southland Ins., John Duffy, and CSIB.
TD and State Farm are not insuring me due to my record and age.
Aleks Hara (GTAM member) at CSIB said that he talked to his connections at Jevco at length about my case and they offer the above at best.
Altho it is not the season, I don't want to sit and wait for March 14, but paying $2000 extra for 45days is just stupid.
Do you know any company that would insure me now with the discounted rate or at least do a midterm adjustment at a fair level ?
Also, who else offers the 30days grace period besides State Farm ?

Any company that would do a midterm rate increase down to a "fair level" as you put it should also be expected to raise the price to a "fair level" immediately upon any future conviction. Waiting until March 14 to insure is your best bet.
Winter MIGHT finally get here, ruining any chance of riding. Wait until March!!

The most common problem with motorcycles is the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
There's still snow and it's cold around that time. I would wait it out.
You probably won't get good riding weather until April anyway. It would be silly to start your policy prior to the anniversary, especially with such a large premium difference.
I'm an Actuarial Analyst for a Major Canadian Insurance Company. I analyse claims patterns to determine overall rate changes, as well as relative premium differences by various risk characteristics (eg. age, experience, claims, convictions, usage, etc.)
Unless it's private, please post insurance-related questions in the forum rather than sending me a PM.
