    I think I'd honestly rather have the Caterham or Exige. I'd definitely prefer the 7 or Exige if price were a factor.

    I haven't tried any of these, but I think I'd find the Lotuses more fun in daily driving and in/around the speed limit. Also they're more elemental and lighter.

    A Ferrari would beat me in a race, but I could live with that.

    Anyways, this is a better and fairer comparison for an SV650 or a CB1 vs. an MV Brutale, Z1000, ...
    having driven both the lotus elise and the 458, a lotus is a ****ing nightmare in the realworld. @ 6'2 240 i have to take the roof off to get into the car, the seat has leather strips so you're not sitting on aluminum, and the foot controls are so close only an anorexic little person can drive it comfortably. never mind the required trip to the chiropracter after a daily commute. while the ferari has more creature comforts its stilla ***** on our roads. I'd rather have a porsche c4s, clutch is sporty, but not so heavy you get calf pumps, ample power, amazing handling, and ride height high enough you're not scraping the body work on every road bmp or driveway.

    Same applies to bikes, to each their own. A ninja 250 for one rider might be a better fit then a busa, another rider might prefer a hd sporster. everyone has preferences and are willing to deal with pros and cons based on their individual needs.

    EDIT- i really like the the ducati monster as far as naked bikes go, ymmv

    I thought I would reanimate this thread rather than make a new one, but I am pretty sure I am looking at a SF848 or a Tuono v4 (Tuono is about 2000 more) as my next bike, I am in the process of organizing some test rides, but i was wondering if anyone had comments about one vs the other.

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit: I thought I would give more info.

    1. I ride on the street mostly - I ride generally every day, I'll ride to get a coffee;
    2. I am looking for something can keep for a while -upkeep is a consideration;
    3. I may take passengers;
    4. I plan on making the Calgary - Vancouver trip a few times a year;
    5. I am looking into going to the track ( though whether with this bike or not i don't know );
    6. I enjoy being in a province without 172 (/wink).

    They are both great bikes. With Tuono you get extra oomph. Both bikes are stuffed with modern electronic gizmos. You will be hard pressed to find a fault in either one.

    Agree, but don't ride the Tuono unless you can afford it. That v4 motor is like a hit off a heroin syringe.

    Many v4 owners have reported terrible fuel mileage but that's about it.

    sf1098 is more comparable to the tuono. I would take the v4 over both!

    The current mapping makes it a lot better.

    I understand that the Tuono is more similar to the 1098, but interestingly enough the price point on the 1098 is significantly more than the Tuono.

    I don't think i can justify the cost difference.
