Black definitely looks better IMO
|
My wife has a dual sport TW200 now and it was great to start on, but she's really to upgrade. She's tiny and wants something lightweight, narrow, fun but not to powerful and looks great, so I'm thinking either a Ninja 250R or CBR250.
I'm learning towards the 2011 CBR250 because it's redesigned for 2011, is fuel injected and cheaper (buying new) than the Ninja 250R.
The only question that remains is, which color (I'm thinking black for better resale): http://motorcycle.honda.ca/sport/cbr250r

I vote Black. Personally I would pick a Ninja over the CBR but the CBR has ABS which is a huge advantage on the streets.
I'm thinking a 2008 Ninja 250 and saving $3000. FWIW I rode into work this morning at -2C and she fired up no problem with the choke on. 1-2 minutes of warm up and she was ready to ride. Save your pennies.
New to me for 2012.
After going through the following thread, the 250R gets my vote...

Mina
Rode both ninja 250 (took it for a quick spin) + Honda 250 and I'll give you both opinions:
Ninja 250:
- Better top end speed
- Nimble
- Fun
- Carb'd.
Honda 250:
- ABS (option of having it)
- F.I
- I find that the Honda takes off more quickly in 1st then the Ninja
- Fun
- Nimble
- Less top end speed compared to the Ninja
Get the honda 250 and get it in black so your wife doesn't have the same color as mine. lawl.

This thread is worthless without pics of your wife sitting on the black one and the red one. How the heck are we supposed to determine which one looks better without the eye candy present? Hmm?

I picked up the black one for my wife in May she managed to put over 5000 km on it. Not bad for her first season of riding.
I love the fuel injection as you can start it and walk away while it warms up, no playing with a choke.
The thing I dont like is when you change the oil filter you have a gasket to buy that costs almost as much as the filter. I don't know why they didn't use a re-useable O-ring.
If you're getting the CBR, then get the ABS.
Ignorance is curable, Apathy not so much, but I don't care, I'll try anyway.
We have a cbr250 for the school to use for demos. I love that bike
A factor to consider when buying something is also look at the cost of basic maintence. Maybe the ninja is cheaper to get replacement parts and oil filters because it is more popular. (I have no idea just throwing an example out there)
But I must say I am biased for the CBR.

I vote for ninja black..... Hehe.. That's what I upgraded too! Being small n light weight, I'm still on tippy toes, but it's an awesome bike!

The all black models look nice, though marginally less visible maybe? Between the two I'd go with the solid black model.
One dealer quoted me $4199 new, but that's for the non-ABS version. I'm getting a quote for the ABS version, but that's a special order.

I know ABS rocks in all types of conditions, but mainly rainy conditions. So if you're not riding in rain... I hear dry payment stopping with ABS can be longer than non ABS.

Ninja 250 in Green, don't worry about the carbs it is the more powerful bike and reliable.
I vote CBR in red/silver because it looks like a mini version on the VFR in the same colours. Adorable.
