Dude... you're over 25 years old. Insuring an SS shouldn't be an issue for you.
If that's the only thing stopping you... BTW, Jevco is not SS friendly, try State Farm.

My 650R is running like a champ, but I'd like something sportier, but nothing SS for insurance reasons.
I can get a 06 ZZR 600 for $2800, should I go for it?

I have no car/home or any other kind of insurance with SF other than my motorcycle policy.
I'm paying 1800$/year for full coverage with fire and theft.
It might a little high to others, but to me it was the cheapest quote I found on a 750 SS.
Since I drive a company car and therefore I don't pay car insurance, I can justify spending $150/month on my toy!

06-08 ZZR 600's are running about 5-6G, so I'm thinking $2800 is a great deal, but it's carbureted.

Personally, I don't like the look, but at that price, it's definitely a great deal.
IMO, it's too good to be true, makes me think that there's something wrong with it.
Don't think because you're buying from a dealer that the bike is bulletproof.
There has to be a reason why they're selling it for $2K +/- below the market value.

I spoke to the guy and he "seems" honest, but I don't know him so....
He's actually a car dealer (12 years in business) and got this bike from an auction house. The left fairing has light damage, so his plan was to fix it up and sell it for more, but it's now the end of the bike season, so instead of have it hanging around, he just wants it gone. He figures it was an insurance job, because it has minor fairing damage. I'm not concerned about minor fairing damage because I can get another fairing, if indeed that's all that's wrong with it.

I've ridden the 600 and it's a great bike. But I LOVE the look of yours. I'd keep the 650 until you feel the need for a liter bike at least.
It's understanding that makes it possible for a person such as myself to tolerate a person like you.
that's def a good deal for the bike. Carbs aren't really a big deal as long as you store it properly and running fuel stabilizer through it before storing at the very least before storage. You'll never need to clean them out of you took the preventative measure. Does the thing start at all? If not and all it does is whine then you can be sure your carbs are gunked up. I personally hate the look of it too, but I'm in a similar situation as you.
Let me know if you have any questions about the bike itself
