You're only focused on the engine size. Bigger engine doesn't always mean more fun.

Imagine a new ZX7R thats around 400lbs wet and makes 145hp. MMmmmmmm!!!

And has styling that pays homage to the old ZX7.....some hoover tubes, maybe a tail spoiler....but 75 lbs lighter,LOL

    +1

Smaller engine is more fun imo because you can wring the crap out of it without getting into too much trouble.

I think the 750-in-a-600-chassis scenario is fantastic.
It should have the same weight, the same horsepower (similar), but would simply pick up torque.
Therefore not like a litrebike at all - it would be a 600 SS with torque.
Forget the 150 horsepower. Stroke the 600 motor and give it torque at 4/5/6 grand...
Personally, I have no interest in FZ1 but FZ800 seems to me very attractive.
    Struggling to understand why...
    Might just go with it.
The new crop of 675cc triples is a fantastic size too.
Hey, I saw 250 kph (on public roads) 30 years ago.
    I wouldn't recommend that today...
I think the 600-with-torque is the new way to go.
The FZ800 is like an R6 with torque.
Actually moreso than a GSXR750 - or what?
    I would rather have an FZ800 than a GSXR750.
Rodney your 650 is pretty competent...
800cc four cylinder would be a move up for you.
You would delight in the silky electric-motor smoothness. Like butter.
I drove CB350 four cylinder (in the 1970s).
Not much power - but sewing machine smooth!
This would be the FZ800 experience (but power should be better).
    Old Ninja, runs good.

    Holy ADD batman.

You don't want to simply stroke the 600cc motor, that just ups the compression and makes it less user friendly. Similar design to a 600cc motor, but marginally bigger bore and bigger stroke. You'll see pretty significant horsepower and torque increases. It still won't have any jam at 4K rpm, but it wont fall on it's face below 10k rpm like the 600s do.

I'm ok with the extra 37 pounds on my gsxr 750 for the extra 8hp, taking that ugly can out shaved about 15 pounds from it

That only works on the '06 / '07........from '08 on, they welded the mid pipe to the cat.
It's easy to do, but you need to know where to hack it off.

I had to carry the stock pipe/cat in my backpack after I got my Akra. s/o installed and it felt a lot heavier than 15 pounds.
Never weighed it, but I'll do so when I get home.

Paulo - if you're cutting yours off, be sure to saw it off on the proper side of the weld - i.e. leave the weld on when you cut it off and grind the weld off after the cut - you need the extra 1/2" for a mid-pipe to connect to - I've done a few '08's and '09's.
If you're changing to a full system, never mind.

    No I didn't...
Money was a bit of an issue and I decided to do the smart thing first, track school in the beginning of the season and if I love it enough, I'll be buying/building a track bike suitable for me.
    I would really like a gsxr600 because I have the 750 and I'm familiar/comfortable on it.

Good things come to those who wait (that's what I tell myself to make me feel better)

Cool, no need to rush, you will do it once you feel ready for it.

Don't limit yourself by the fact you have a gixxer, I would prefer to track a zx6r way more than a gsxr, personal preference but you should ask friends to ride their different brand bikes for a while, like swithching for a trip up north or whatever.

Don't set your mind to a particular brand.

I know what you're saying, I hear the zx6 and the R6 are great bikes for the track...
Like I said, I'll be doing track school next season (most likely racer5 prog.) and take it from there.
    Thanks for the advice.

Some girls also say that size doesn't matter.
