Awesome! I'd a friend on tour in Virginia use the same method to repair his. Well done.

Lowsided and the shift peg broke off. Ebay was selling shift levers for around $25 bones including shipping and, factoring in the wait time, I decided to do ghetto repair instead.
drill hole
insert bolt and locknut
remove rubber boot from broken peg
insert boot and another locknut
The nuts and bolts cost $1.62! Took it for a test ride and she shifts like butter (but looks like margarine). Still, I can't believe it's not butter!

I went even further on my old zx7. I actually used a bigger diameter bolt and ground the head round, put on the rubber, and you couldn't tell the difference from stock.
I actually sold the bike that way. lol
riding a moped is like having sex with a fat chick.
