Rider Down Steeles 6 minutes from Kahuna Powersports

Saw a bike down while on route to Kahuna Powersports around 3:30pm today. Seemed like the bike hit the back of a bus. No sign of the rider but i saw his white helmet on the curb. After leaving Kahuna at 4:15pm police were on scene and the bus and bike was there. Does anyone know if the rider is safe. I'v been thinking about this all day.

This rider is my cousin's boyfriend. He has severe head and back (multiple spinal fractures) injuries and is in a medically-induced coma (done to reduce amount of brain injury) in intensive care. I hope he gets well and makes a full recovery. I understand that it is not appropriate, within this forum/these types of threads, to comment on what a rider may have been doing wrong so I shall refrain from doing so and only say that, while accidents do happen, there are many things we can do/refrain from doing, that decrease our risks and that not everyone does those things. Of course, this could happen to any one of us no matter how safe we are.

Quick up-date according to my cousin: she was told he is expected to make a full recovery. There is no evidence of paralysis/spinal cord damage.

Great news! Happened to a buddy of mine who had his C1 broken in 3 places and separating (someone jumped on his head). Fully up and running now. GWS rider!

Like many active sports, shooting has the potential to cause personal injury.

Yes, well, though she said she was told that, I remain skeptical. If they put him in a coma to reduce further brain injury that means they still have to wake him up at some point to assess his functions/get a more accurate prognosis. I think they will know more in the days to come.

I've got a friend who got pinned between a Freightliner and a guardrail and he's back riding again. Maybe not 100% but pretty close. He was over 60 when it happened so a younger body might be as good as new in time.
