    Pulsating brake light

I checked the highway traffic act and got this:

    Intermittent red light restricted

    (14) Subject to subsections (14.1) and (15), no person shall use a lamp, other than the vehicular hazard warning signal lamps commonly known as four way flashers, that produces intermittent flashes of red light. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (14); 2007, c. 13, s. 17 (1).

So am I **** out of luck cause I want one. I saw a bike with it today and thought it was a great idea. So now before I purchase one just want to check if people are getting tickets out there.

Yes I was told they were illegal, however talking to a couple of cops. they told me they would not ticket someone making a motorcycle more visible. I guess if you were doing something stupid they may tack on that charge, but just riding around is not likely to be a problem. I have used them myself for a couple of years without incident.

    Re: Pulsating brake light

i have customled integrated signals/brake light and they pulse 3 times as soon as I touch the brake. Ive been pulled over with them, so the cop obviously saw them in action... not once has a cop mentioned anything about them.

I think its one of those things that are illegal, but are not really enforced unless you are asking for it.. like integrated lights, no reflector, side mounted plate, no fender.. yada yada, ..

I guess I could talk my way out of a ticket because we are talking safety here. Its not like I want it as an accessory for only looks. Then again I'm sure they can come up with something stupid about how it might be a hazard. Thanks for the input Mike. Just curious whats the model and where did you pick your light up at.

I have an additional LED lamp(Police supply,6 super bright leds,34 different flashing patterns) that activates only when braking...I was followed by many cruisers, never pulled over....I guess they know what the light is for....

Have a "BackOFF" brake light switch installed on girlfriend's Shadow. Pulses 3 times for 1 second and then goes solid for 3.5 seconds. Rinse and repeat.

Personally we've not had any issues with this.

I have this one as well. I purchased two; installed one on my bike as well as my GF bike. WELL worth the money.

    I highly recommend it!

Do you have to use a supplementary light bar for this to work or can you just wire it into the OEM brake light?

Kits exist that you can wire into an existing brake light. Depending on your bike, you can also convert signal stalks into auxiliary brake lights without affecting the functionality, colour, or external appearance of the existing turn signal stalks. http://www.electricalconnection.com/...g/tsk-main.htm

I have the same unit and am happy with it. My R1 is undergoing a weight loss program and am selling the BackOFF light switch for $20 if anyone is interested.

Its good to pump your breaks so your light flashes anyways. This just eliminates the pumping part. But agreed your only going to get a ticket if your being a dick. I've got an illegal bike (no turn signals etc) and I've been around cops with no issue. But then I ride her aware that shes loud (short shifting in residential areas etc) and use arm signals.
