Given the potential ramifications of this charge, I agree that looking for a traffic lawyer would be the best course of action.

It's 6 demerit points. Minimum $2,000 fine on conviction, possible $10,000 fine. Possible 6 months in jail on conviction. Possible 2 year license suspension on conviction. With you being a G2 driver, 4 demerit points could have you face a 30 day or longer license suspension regardless of any additional suspension being ordered for the actual offence you are convicted for. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...on2.10.2.shtml
it's not like the "good ole days"
That is too bad about your ticket, but hopefully you learn the lesson the first time around. Lose your licence for a bit, buy a **** box that youre embarassed to be seen in, and wait until the 3 year anniversary of your conviction date.
Probably hire an agent or lawyer, and play up the 17 year old, learning a lesson, makes little money, cant afford $10000, didn't notice your were doing KM, instead of miles lol, etc.
Again, sorry to hear about that. Good luck

To be fair, the conviction rate on the 172 stuff is poor. Hire a good traffic lawyer and it will be dropped to 30 over or something.. Don't worry too much.
Good luck but yes get a traffic lawyer, Friend of mine just got nailed on the 50 over. Currently she had to pay just over 3 grand for fine and impond fees. She was also told not to tell her insurance company as the only time your insurance company will fine out is when your policy changes....I think it was one of her friends who does insurance but that could be wrong.
Play Kid card, learned lesson, Probably get a decent fine and lic suspension for X amount of time.
Where did it happen? I'm not familiar with legal services in Bolton, but the first place to call would be Redline - charged.ca. While they are paralegals, they have experience with S.172 charges and are the only paralegal service that I'd recommend without any reservations. They're not the cheapest but they are the best. If they won't take on your case (and they might since it's not a cheap charge to fight), they might be able to recommend someone who will.
By the way, MAJOR convictions such as 172 stay on your record longer than 3 years, so they're a gift (to the insurance industry) that keeps on giving. I think it's in the 5-10 year ballpark.

What Firestart said, I'd go talk to RedLine.
thanks
Good luck... my suggestion is when you hit 120 flick on the cruise control.... My last ticket I realized how close I was to losing my license and how stupid I was being. Now cruise control is my friend.

go to your initial hearing and ask for it to be dropped to a 49 over ticket, they'll always agree.
