traction control is not an anti-crashing feature.

He lost traction because he rolled off the throttle and the back end came around.

Traction control on or off would have no bearing on the outcome.

If you watch the tach at :28, there was no increase in engine RPM when the rear went away, meaning he was off the gas.

But shouldnt it have done something when the rear stepped out?

    not in this case

the traction control works by preventing wheel spin, in this case it would have done nothing as there was not a wheelspin condition for it to deal with.

i wonder how casey stoner can slide his bike and not crash. must be a slight difference it physics between the two scenarios?

Casey stoner doesn't get off the gas.

it's called steering with the rear wheel(all the cool kids do it)

If dude in the vid above had got back on the gas, he'd have been fine as the bike would have started to pick itself up as a result of the increased engine RPM(there's your physics at work) and the traction control would have dealt with any wheelspin condition caused by the application of power.

When he crashed was he suppose to let go of the bike or keep holding onto it like that?

Sometimes, its hard to let go of $30k, and it happens so fast you don't realize what's happened.

I was thinking it would pick up 2 different wheel speeds during the slide....Although now that I think of it more what could it do, accelerate for you to drift out of it..lol no drift function yet

How do wheel speed sensors detect lateral slide?

He seemed to be at constant throttle, not letting off the throttle when he crashed. I'm actually surprised it would come around there..... and at that track. It has LOADS of grip. At first I thought he was going to crash on the last corner... easy place to tuck the front end... don't ask me how I know..... I haven't checked but I think my leathers still have a brown streak in them. ah... at least I didn't crash.

It was all peachy until he hit the dirt, that's when it went pear shaped. Must suck to watch that much money go end over end.
