It's strange how uneven RC experiences are. Never had a problem myself, despite being an occasional, low $$$ customer. The boss is something of a character, but even he's been helpful.

His attitude probably changes depending on whether or not he feels like he's better than you.

Last time I was there he was making fun of a loyal customer of his for crashing at the track and getting hurt badly. I didn't see what was so funny about that.

Everyone else that works there seems fine.

Maybe Mr. McBride has been so good to me because I asked him for the "Finch & Weston Discount"? It doesn't actually exist, but it certainly made him smile! LOL!

Yeah I haven't liked them much either any time I've gone there. It always seems to either be a pain in the butt to get a sales person to talk to me or I get treated like I'm a retard. Although last time I was there I was thinking it was the guy's (owner's? not really sure) sense of humour which just unintentionally came across as rude and insulting... or it could've been intentional.

Was there yesterday -- no problems at all. In fact I thought I got great customer service, despite it being so close to close time on a Friday evening with quite a few customers in there.

I like OP's reasoning "I spent big bucks here so I should get a discount on tire install" maybe OP should write to the CRA "I've been a tax payer for decades so I should get a tax break."Lolz

Isn't it funny how that mentality only applies to certain retail situations? I wish my wife could walk into Wal-Mart and go over her receipts for the last year and then ask for a sweet deal. No one is getting rich in the motorcycle industry, that's for sure so just be thankful you can actually go to a place and see product in stock.

I don't need to. I have a good tax agent. If U charge Premium rates, U better provide premium service.

Your example simply does not apply. An enormous corporation works on the same statistics principles as casinos. They lose one customer due to bad service? That's alright, because they save money on inadequately trained staff and gain two customers due to cheap prices.

The problem with applying this logic to motorcycle shops in Toronto is the size of the market. Where Walmart has the entire population of Toronto as potential customers, around 4 mil, Riders' Choice caters to less than 100k, even less considering not everybody lives close to them. They are by definition a small business, and they will never grow. One lost customer is lost for good and at best will be replaced with a single new customer.

I used to shop at RC, but hit the owner's poor attitude about 3 years ago. Since Z1 and Corsa Mecannica opened up, I haven't set foot in RC's shop since. I may pay an extra $5 an oil can elsewhere, but I'm spending that on gas anyway. And if I don't get attitude, it's even more worth it.

Re: My last time shopping at rider's choice....

I went in there before I bought my bike and I had no gear. I had no idea about anything and I had money to spend. I walked in and was just browsing. None of the staff acknowledged me at all. I did a lap around the store, still no greeting. I stood beside the gloves at the cash, intentionally looking and acting confused. Nothing from them. I asked the guy that was sitting there and he gave me a $hitty answer. I chose a pair of gloves myself and went to the helmets. There are signs saying to ask if you want to try on. So I go to the counter and ask for help. The guy doesn't want to get off his chair and tries to make the other guy help me. He refuses so first guy waddles over there with me. He points to some, explaining that some are better than others. Thanks captain obvious. He then walked away. I head over to the cash to buy the gloves and they start turning the lights off 10 minutes before closing. I pay, no "thanks for your business". I walk away and get in my car. I don't think I'll fo back again.

Was there today and the staff were very helpful. John was in a good mood and sporting a tan so maybe the big sale they are having is doing well or was just back from holidays. I do miss the dog.

What happened to the dog? It was the only good thing about the place, heh.

Re: My last time shopping at rider's choice....

I've been there a few times, purchased multi $$ stuff. I don't get too bent if I don't get immediate attention. I like their 'sales approach' - they let you look arround, maybe a while, then you approach them. If talking to 'Mr. McBride', some may need to keep their humour hat strapped on tight - no problem for me. Matt is a very reasonable and knowledgeable guy. No, they do not have the very best prices but if you want supermarket you're in the wrong place. I've had best quality tires & brake pads put on my bike by them at rates competitive with other similar shops. I'll be back.

The dog quit, he's at another "shop" now. I never really had any problem there, although I've only been a few times.
