Thumbs up Time for a Ride to Penn Hills

Ahhh.... finally a couple of days without the incessant RAIN!

So - it's off to the country hills of Pennsylvania. Expect to cross the border at Fort Erie about 11:00 am - gassing up at the PetroCan. Meet there if anyone is also heading to ride the hills.

1 night in Tionesta and 1 night in Port Allegany
If anyone else is riding down there don't forget to wave!

I was done that way over the long weekend, and had a great time.

Hopefully you'll turn this thread into a Ride Report when you get back and show us some pictures.

    Have a great ride!

Re: Time for a Ride to Penn Hills

I don't take pictures of places I've already been to.
I also can't upload pictures to this site.
I used to have a web page where I composed a bunch of story boards back in the day. Alas, lost the web site and am now with Rogers who give nothing.

If you know of a FREE place to send pictures and text then I'll post some stuff there.

    Ride Report?
Wednesday Juine 1 - Amazingly windy - a ride to Tionesta, Pa down hwy 62
Thursday, June 2 - Much much cooler and windy as well - here's the rout from Tionesta to the Port Motel where we stayed Thursday night:
    http://goo.gl/maps/WcUC
Would like to have stayed another day - but rain was forecast on Saturday - I don't ride in the rain unless necessary and a 5 hour in the rain is suicide unless necessary. I'll be back in a few weeks and complete my loop. Coudersport to Coudersport. So, Friday would have seen this route:
    http://goo.gl/maps/y3NI

Gettin' ready for the next loop - maybe even next week - June 7 - 10.

http://www.everytrail.com will let you upload gps logs, pictures, and trip reports.

Don't let the "trail" part of the url put you off. They let you categorize your entries into all sorts of trip types, including motorcycle, canoe, etc.

This is a search for motorcycle trips in New York State. http://www.everytrail.com/browse.php...activity_id=21

The nice thing about that site is that if you synch the times on your gps and camera, for each picture the site will automatically place a flag on the map right at the spot that it was taken along your route. You still have the option to place pictures manually on the route as well.

    That's sort of the idea.

If you don't have a gps unit of your own, you can get free web apps that will generate a gpx file from a google maps routes. The resulting gpx file won't have any useful time stamps though, so if you have pictures, you will either have to place their locations manually, or be content to have them all pinned to your starting point.

Re: Time for a Ride to Penn Hills

I was going to suggest Picasa as a free photo hosting service, http://picasaweb.google.com/

    I upload pictures three ways,

-using a web based upload tool,
-using their software called "Picasa" that I also use to organize my pictures on my computer, or
-via email to an online dropbox that I sort out later on.

Then I paste the picture into a post using image tags around the link to the picture, like this...
[IMG]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4x7atm-ocRo/TdsuXapCJaI/AAAAAAAARDs/cH0Ex_UP1Is/s640/P1300443.JPG[/IMG ] <--I left a bunch of spaces here so you could see the "image tags" When the tags are closed properly, it displays the picture like this:

Picasa is absolutely free, and works well with a gmail account.

Is that what you're looking for?

It also works as an import source for Everytrail, along with Flickr and Youtube.
