"Street legal" pipe for an '03 YZF450

Hi Guys,

I've got an '03 YZ450 that is blue plated, and currently registered as unfit.

I'm getting it ready for the cert, but it's got the stock MX pipe (which is very LOUD) on it which I am guessing wont pass the safety. Plus, I believe it says "not for highway use" on it

I'm on a seriously tight budget... Does anyone know what I can do to the pipe that would allow it to pass safety? I know I can re-pack it, but I'm wondering what else I would need to do to it? Do I need to find a spark arrester for it, or does someone have any home grown ideas that have worked before?

Or, maybe my idea is futile and I should be looking for something aftermarket for it?

Put a DB Dawg in it and head to Rosey Toes.

For the sound issue use a pipe off a WR 450, they are not for highway use either but that may just get overlooked when getting the bike certified

Drill a small hole in the outlet cross ways through both , stuff some steel wool in , put some wire through the holes to keep it from blowing out.

When done the noise check/cert pull out the wire, The steel wool will burn blow out if you didnt stuff it in too hard. cost = 0

A lot of shops do not care as long as there is a pipe on it, or unplug the ignition coil before you drop it off, it doesn't need to run to pass certification.
