Hi everyone,
I just sold my Ninja 250r and was curious what my rates will be if I upgrade to a 600cc bike. I prefer the R6 so I went with that and I've heard insurance will be high, but not $8600 high! The year is 2007 if that matters, the agent said there's 400% premium on supersports
What rates are you guys paying, for those under 25 and riding a 600 CC?
My previous rate was $1600/year on Ninja 250r with full coverage & fire/theft with Jevco. I have 5 years driver license, 2 years M2 and clean record.
If insurance are this high, how can people in the 20s ride 600cc +???
Any input is appreciated, thanks
For facility with SS you should consider companies such as Royal Sun Alliance. Companies like Jevco are good for non-ss. Jevco surcharges 400% for SS... FYI. It's kind of their way of saying **** off.
Be sure to let us know what rate you manage to get with Statefarm; I for one would be very interested in knowing...
its already been said, but definitly statefarm..
youl still pay enough because of your age, but statefarm dosent charge an ss premium, they only rate by year of bike and cc, (and your age and driving record ofcourse) so they are often actually cheaper on a 600cc supersport then say a 1200cc cruiser..

As mentioned before, go for state farm.
Jevco has a 400% surcharge for SS's.

As long as you have 5 years of driving experience you should be good.
What is Jevco's requirements for insuring riders? Does the rider need to have had 5 years of G1/driving experience?

i'm turning 23 may 1st, currently paying $1800 for a '08 daytona 675 with statefarm.
when i was 21 i had a 2007 R6 for $2800 with john r duffy.
however i only get liability +fire/theft on my policies. give duffy a call, i'm sure he can beat $8k, especially if you actually do have a clean record. statefarm will probably be around $3k w/o a car on policy and under $2k with a car on the policy, but the car rates are pretty crappy.

thanks for all the feedback guys. I've tried that SF agent and he said I am looking at roughly $3300/year for liability/theft/fire which is a huge decrease compared to Jevco. Thanks!
If money is an issue (I know it would be for me at $3300), you might want to consider a sporty bike that isn't surcharged, such as the Ninja 650 or SV650 until you turn 25yo and rates decrease significantly.

I don't know how you managed that :s. I just did a few quotes with SF and got this back:
-2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R $174.05
-2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R $470.07
-2004 Suzuki SV650s $454.20
-2004 Suzuki GSXR-600 $359.36
-2003 Yamaha YZF-R6 $354.06
Geez. I'm 23, getting M1 tomorrow, doing a course in late may, wanted to get a bike in June =(. Still waiting to hear back from some jevco brokers.
how come when I call statefarm they tell me they only insure people with 6 years of licensed experience but when I read the forums I see people getting quotes and policies with 5 years of experience?
