    FZR"400" project build

This is the thread devoted to my FZR400 franken bike to be.

    Currently the bike has this:
YZF600 carbs with Dynojet Stage 1 jet kit, with 185 main and 35 pilot; custom FZR400 airbox adapted to fit YZF600 carbs
    YZF600 rad
    Full Engine Ice
R6 header with FMF midpipe/muffler in anodized blue
Fox Twin Clicker rear shock (apparently set up for 160 lbs rider)
    Race-Tech 0.85 kg/mm front springs
99-02 R6 calipers, master cylinder with Galfer braided lines
    Galfer wave rotors
    TZR250 rear wheel (4.5X17)
Modking hydraulic clutch conversion with YZF750 master cylinder
02 R1 dash with speed sensor in crankcase (as per WIKI) - EVERYTHING works, even had the FZR400 fuel tank modified with a YZF600 fuel sensor
Sargent seat (also comes with stock passenger seat)
    Sylvania Superstars
Custom painted Zero Gravity windscreen (to emulate the factory black stripe)
    Tapeworks graphics
    GSX-R1000 mirrors

    Looks like this right now.

What I would like to add to it:

    - 2006+ R6 subframe and tail
    - FZR1000 rear swingarm and wheel
    - 05 06 GSXG1000 front end
    - Triumph speed triple style hedlights

Which I have already paid for.

minus the front wheel. I am still looking for a front wheel.

that bike looks too nice to start chopping up. The only thing I would do is change the can, and ride the hell out of it....your bike though, so good luck with the project.

I knew somebody would say that. And normally I am inclined to agree. However I have always wanted one of these for a project so I put my money down as soon as the opportunity arose. Last year was going to buy a bare from on here to do the same thing but that didn't work out.

Anyways this is a project I am hoping to work and keep for a long time.

Nice front end, bonus on the levers and billet cap. Kind of like my F4 build up but I'm trying to stay completely Honda.

Ya I thought about staying all Yamaha, but the problem is the USD front ends have multispoke wheels as opposed to three spoke. And the rear end I want to put on has 3 spokes. So it matches better.

It's no where near finished. We don't all have money to blow on powder.

Ok now the pipes are on correctly...

Now I have to make my own Y-pipe or I can buy a ready made y pipe and make it fit... any thoughts or suggestions? I want an O2 sensor bung on there to go with the EFI setup that is to come. I know they sell Y-pipes for the 06 + R6s with the O2 bungs on them already but best price I found was $150+ $25 shipping. Hoping to spend less than that considering I got the headers for $86 shipped.

More views of what I need to do.

    Re: FZR"400" project build

Tonight I made a stiffener ring so that I could get the R1 boot to clamp firmly onto the yzf600 boots. So far so good. Going to have to grind it down a little bit and port it to the opening in the boot as not to restrict airflow too much.
This was cut from 1.66" aluminum pipe which on the caliper measure out to be 41.7mm instead of the 42.2mm it's supposed to be. Which is ok for me because the YZF boots are 41mm ID. I think I am going to turn the stiffener down to 41mm or 40.5 for easier boot installation. It sure does seal up nice and tight with the yzf boot though. I know it's a small update but I am getting killed at work so my creative potential after work at the moment is somewhat limited.

By the way, don't you think you've bled out enough of that green stuff? Time to go blue

I know the kawi is sold, but I will always have a sweet spot for them, whether I ride yamaha or suzuki (cuz no ****in way am I getting a honda...). Always loved Kawi styling, kawi engines and their design pioneerism comparing to their bigger competitors.

Jk On the honda thing... I could see my self on a CBR900R one day.. but that's probably the only honda I'd own.
