Southwood Road full of sand checked Apr 9

Went up for a ride along Southwood Road on April 9. Road still full of sand, mud, dirt, etc. Very bumpy ride too.

Southwood is usually clearing up by mid July for decent runs.

I was on Big Chute and 169 on Saturday and both had some sand and gravel patches. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts Southwood Rd is pretty much covered in sand.

We went through there last Saturday and it was great. Lots of sand and gravel patches but it just keeps you that much more alert.

The way the sand distributes itself over the roadway kinda forces you into the only clear section very close to the yellow line

In Ontario, lines in the middle of the road are advisory only.

    Hi Cycling,

I was out there yesterday with my nephew and brother in law.
Still very grainy and alot of sand on the roads.
We also found it to be be very bumpy in some spots.

If I knew how that road was, I would have ventured out to Hockley instead.

    River road was nice yesterday.
Stopped for 5 minutes and raised the visor, which I slammed shut quickily.

I was on Southwood, (Muskoka Road 13) Monday night, May 30, YOU MAY AS WELL STAY OFF OF IT NOW, unless you enjoy riding in the dirt. Tthe District has ground up sections of it and it has large sections of gravel and mud. They are in the way of re paving these sections but it may take a while.
