Welcome

Hi guys.
Intro: I do not own a motorcycle; or posses a license for one. I plan to get my license after taking the proper courses. I also plan to buy a new Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Everyone (internet research) says that this is a good first time bike. Also it is very attractive, and the price is rightJ.
Safety:
A lot of people have the opinion that motorcycles are dangerous. I think that yes, they are dangerous because you have less protection than “cage” drivers, but people think that they are dangerous because the fatality stats are higher. I my opinion, my motorcycle will be used for commuting around town (less than 10k) at low speeds. If I crash it will be at low speeds, so there is a high chance of surviving.
The reason (IMHO) that motorcycle death rates are higher than car drivers is due to the adrenaline junkies doing high speeds while swerving in between cars (nothing wrong with that).
edit: I am also considering honda CBR and the KLX
Thanks guys and great forum BTW!

welcome!
smart investing in the courses... a lot of valuable information you'll learn.
I’d rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.
Welcome...
Also, low speed crashes can be fatal as well.
Ride safe.

Welcome, good luck and ride safely.
Crashes can happen anywhere, anytime and at any speed... watch out for those cagers, cause most don't look for us!
Welcome and good luck with your bike and licencing ...
Getting t-boned or sideswiped by some ********* talking on his cellphone can hurt just as much whether you going 30 or 60km/h.
Keep in mind ... it's also not usually the motorcycle that's the dangerous part ... it's the human riding it!!!

welcome...good idea to take the course and buying something smaller, more manageable for your first bike...i too am a newbie and just recently purchased the cbr125 and love it...
however, in order to take the course you have to have your M1...no course will allow you to attend without it...the M1 is good for 90 days and you must have it for a minimum of 60 days before you can convert it to an M2...so, for example, if you take your M1 written on Monday, March 14 (which is the date i did it), the license will expire on Sunday, June 12...i can take a course at any time after passing the M1 but i have to wait until Friday, May 13 before i can go to the drivetest centre with my certificate of completion (in the sealed envelope given to you unopened) and get the M2...if i don't pass a course and convert to an M2 by the June 12 deadline, i have to restart the whole process....take a look at the drivetest website and you'll see all this information and more...here's a link...

good luck with everything....

Welcome to the forum
Silly biker, Trix are for kids!
Take it easy in traffic, keep watch 360 degrees, always be prepared for evasive manouvers - then riding will become somewhat less dangerous. Have fun on your new bike and welcome.
