I have seen them go blue, but never brown like that. are you sure nothing is leaking on it?

Hi have been riding my bike quite hard (like usual) and have noticed the pipes are getting brown from over heating. I was looking at "Blue-Job" crome polish to remove the brown. Has anyone tried it or have other suggestions to remove it? Should the pipes be room temperature or hot before I use it?
Thanks

Nothing has ever leaked on them. I think the heat turned the crome brown. I always gets covered when I put it in the garage.

Isnt there a paint/spray you can buy to tint it?
it looks like you're a bit of a chrome guy, but if it was me. I'd wrap that bad boy in fberglass. Love the old school look on choppers.

I think by "leaked on" he meant from the bike, not from an outside source (because you mention you cover it, lol).
Looks like a tiny bit of oil has leaked on the pipes and then burned off. Never seen em go brown like that unless they got oil on em during an oil change, or from a leak, etc.

The end of my exhaust goes brown very often. I just scrub it really hard with a soap+sponge and it comes off.

Room temp. only. I don't think it will clean up complitly...
Thanks for the help...I think the brown is from driving the bike hard. I must have burned the pipes?? I will call Vance and Hines.

Call a harley dealer. For chrome they will know what to do.
I dont think its from riding the bike hard. Chrome turns BLUE when it overheats. Not brown. Brown is either rust, exhaust residue, or something burnt onto it. It also wouldnt blue that far down the pipe generally... What it looks like to me is someone grabbed it when installing the pipe, or put their hand over it, and their hand oil burnt onto the pipe... but i cant tell because that picture is ridiculously small.
