You're right, she does sounds a bit off, it's at 28,000 kms with the last tune up being done about...10K's ago. I think what it is, is the valve adjustment that needs to be done. It hasn't been done, ever. Will do another tune up later this month when I have some time.

I am heavily considering the R6 fork swap this coming winter. I will start hawk eyeing parts on eBay or where ever. I believe skooter65 from fz6-forums.com has the whole kit for sale on the r6 fork conversion, not sure if he's still selling it though, it didn't really take off from what I read.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback and information. I am learning a lot as I go along since I am afterall a rookie at this. I recently picked up the rest of the parts on Saturday, however the rearsets were missing! It said on the packing slip the rear sets were shipped out with it, I am super ******. I called Cyclesector.com in SoCal and have not heard back. E-mails have gone unanswered as well. Will follow up with those chumps today.

They showed up at work, since that's where I have stuff shipped to, everyone knew I got them so when I walked in to our meeting area they were watching me, fully expecting the big smile on my face lol... You know you have an obsession when...

Issue has been resolved, item's back ordered and the shipping department just made a boo-boo by adding it on the packing slip. *whew* One big sigh of relief!

You got the 3's eh??? Nice, give some feedback on them, I have been reading and watching reviews on youtube and it's got amazing reviews. I just had BT-016's mounted before the season started and I'm disappointed with the wet grip on them. I had the Metzellers roadtec before and they were great in both wet or dry. Interesting to see what your feedback will be.

Got a little ride on them today from the shop back to base.
My last set were Bt-023 tires. Noticed a difference pretty early, and in the couple of little turns I got to do, I felt more comfortable, keeping it in my mind there was still release agent on the tires. I can't wait to get out there and really test them out, I deffinately trust these tires for grip!

Hello guys. I also have a 2006 FZ6. Its stock except for a shaved rear fender, removal of ALL stickers (including the FZ6 on the side covers and the VIN sticker on the frame below the tank) AND chopped 3" from the top of the stock windshield. Originally when I got this bike I found the wind noise about the worst of any bike I've owned (up to about 10 now). Chopping the shield made a huge difference in the noise level.

I run BT016s and find then pretty good. What's the difference between the 016s and the 023s?

The 016 are more sport oriented, good tire for the occassional track day. 023 are more sport-touring, longer lasting tire.

That explains it...I should have thought about that before I bought them. I got them for a good price $200 so I can't complain I suppose. Dry they are amazing, wet days like today, I keep sliding the bike under braking. I rode this morning, *sigh*.

I must be riding a lot slower. I've put quite few kms on the 016s in the rain and feel quite confident on them in the wet.

I'm a rookie so I believe I'm stepping on the rear brake so much that it locks up and slides, I have the tendency to do that 75% of the time. Still learning man, still learning.

Oh yeah , it's easy to lock the rear wheel with too much brake. But you want to be gentle on both brakes in the wet.

Not that I've noticed, no. I have a single bubble after market windscreen however from Puig. Works for me!

I'm pretty tall and it's very apparent to me that there's some line in the airflow above which the noise reduces drastically. As long as I sit bolt upright with my arms straight (not ideal for comfort or control) then I'm in the quiet airflow. I can still hear the wind but it's not drumming at my skull like it does when I slouch a bit.

I have some of the best noise isolating stuff I can get; a helmet that fits me very well, a helmet skirt that cuts airflow from rushing past the helmet opening, and 100% silicone custom molded ear plugs. Each one on it's own makes a big difference in reducing the noise, and with my head above the turbulence it's almost a peaceful ride.

Fastar1 you're exactly right. Chopping the sheild drops that airflow into your chest so it's quit even in slouch mode. At least that's what I think happens.

I'd like to get a helmet skirt but I don't think it would help much because I always ride with my visor up unless it's raining or I'm north of 160kph.

How much were the custom e plugs? (and where to get them?)

I got mine from The Hearing Specialists on the NE corner of Keele and Rutherford, $105 well spent.

BTW they're not done on the spot, they make a mold of your inner ear and send it out to a lab to make the ear plugs, takes less than 2 weeks.

Faster1 did those ear plugs require any break for you to get used to them?

Nope, no brake-in period.

However I have come to realise that when the mold of my ear was taken we should have taped my ears back so that they were in the position they would be when I put my helmet on. As it stands they fit my ear perfectly without a helmet but when I put the helmet on it re-shapes my ear a little and creates a few pressure points on my ear lobe.

It's not a severe problem, I only start to notice after an hour or two and then I can still ride all day with just the usual brakes in between. The worst prt is taking them out at the end of the day... my ears are reeeeaaaal sensitive by that point. But if I had to do it over again I'd tape my ears back.
