    AMA vs WSBK

    Pretty cool photo comparison.

    http://www.superbikeplanet.com/image/2011/wsc_ama/

you can see quite a few differences between the bikes in terms of components and configuration.

The Kit swingarm and Motec data acquistion systems can be seen on the WSBK version, as well as the gas charged Ohlins fork set

The carbon bodywork probably costs half of what the entire AMA bike does.

Well............ figure on about $75-90,000 for a "Graves Yamaha" (based on options) and at least $300,000.00 for a Works (which ya won't get) or "Customer" WSBK spec R1 ......... just don't know the phone number to order one. I know Ten Kate will supply you with a Honda, if ya have enough "Guilders". BG

for a couple of bikes that carry the R1 nameplate, they look dramatically different. I am surprised at the amount of freedom the WSBK spec allows.

Things like "frame flex tuning plates" fascinate me.

    Re: AMA vs WSBK

I've been thinking of using a Yosh lower shock pivot/linkage for a while now... illegal in AM & CDN SBK as far as I've seen but for me on track days... more traction is always good... noting the different frames, boxed swingarm, linkages, fuel tanks, front wheel and the Braking discs vs. Brembo... and the forks are either different or the triples are in very different positions on these two bikes...

    Is that an endurance tank?

IMHO I don't care about the bikes so much... the WSBK track choices are the big winner.

The yosh linkages are legal in AMA and CSBK.

AMA I knew, but when did it become legal in CSBK? Not that I have a dog in the race or anything, just curious. (note i said "AM" as in "amateur", not AMA)

Amateur superbike is using the same rulebook as pro superbike for chassis mods, they're legal in pro superbike.

"KIT" and other modified linkages have been eligible as per the rulebook for some time.

You should ask Ben Garter, I think he's still got one for your bike, it came off my GSXR1000 superbike(previously Frank Trombino's)after it was converted back to a streetbike,

Interesting comparison. WSBK gas tank looks like the Motogp one. Seems like there are lots of differences between AMA/WSBK.
