I saw the one where the guy had 48 hours to prepare for a race and ended up with no brakes eating a patty by the sidelines LOL.

Man, I need to find a nice quiet spot where I can just practice sliding around the same corner 1000 times over and over. That right there is sex on wheels.

Btw, forgot to say, welcome 100shot!

The best place is the track.. A warehouse parking lot is your other option as long as you have permission from the owner and/or legal occupant. Anywhere else (including a warehouse parking lot without the owner's permission), that's considered "stunting" (a.k.a. "street racing") and since it's a criminal offense, private property doesn't matter.

P.S. Sorry for the hijack, 100shot, but I figured you might end up being interested in this and in any case other n00bs could find this useful

    Bring it!

I'm going nuts now doing all the research for what to buy, obsession is kicking in now. lol.

The more I learn, the more difficult it is to decide which way to go. I think I'm going to have to ride a few first before I decide.

Go with supermoto! Check out the Yamaha WR250X.. That's most likely gonna be my next bike (unless they come up with a 400cc equivalent) once I have the cash to replace the Fizzer..

Don't worry, your first bike will not be your last. As you develop as a rider your tastes will change. Just get something used and cheap that you can learn on and try to ride other bikes in the meantime to compare.

Why don't you like the DRZ?

Nothing inherently wrong with the DRZ, but the WRX is just a better bike. Similar engine performance with smaller displacement, fuel injected, lighter and more flickable. It's just a lot fresher technology. Now, if Yamaha introduced a higher displacement version, it would sell like hotcakes. Kinda stupid of them not to.

Just curious too, another newbie assumption I've made, just wondering if it was a good one:

    1. Don't ride when you're tired.
    2. Don't ride when you have a headache or not feeling well.
    3. Don't ride during a full moon. lol.

In general, all good suggestions. Of course, if the bike's your only mode of transportation or you're dealing with an emergency, you can't avoid it, but when riding a bike, you're not just managing your movement and traffic, you're also keeping your vehicle standing, so you should be as close to 100% as possible. As for the full moon, once the hair grows out, it fills the helmet and then you can't see where you're going.

I know, I PM'd you for pics, but you said I could only appreciate it in person.......

There's a few 250 R's in red for sale on here and a red CBR 125. Trying to decide which way to go. I really like the 01 Gixxer 600 too, a few very nice ones were listed on here as well.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
