Motorcycle boots are preferred, but you can wear leather boots that cover your ankle. We discourage contruction boots as the steel toe makes it very hard to work the shifter unless, like me, you are accustomed to wearing them every day.

You can get a good pair of boots for around a hundred dollars if you shop wisely. Have a look at the Icon Superduty line. I spend most of the summer's casual rides in my well loved black ankle boots.

Search for motorcycle gear on the forum or start a new thread and you'll have many many sources to choose from.

I was wondering if these are okay http://www.clae.com/Product.aspx?l=0...000&p=CLA01245 , they're leather and cover up to my ankle but they arent exactly motorcycle boots.

You may as well just get these:
    http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/shif...art-shoes.html

same price, come in black if you want less noisy (I like noisy), and it's practically the same price, and they're actual Motorcycle Shoes so they offer solid ankle protection as well as extra toe protection for shifting and midsole reinforcement for the pegs.

Ron do you know? The description sounds good. But then I'm just finished my apprenticeship.

Keep this is mind.... do I trust this enough? If I was out riding and something happened, do I trust these to keep my feet safe?

If you have any doubts or concerns about your gear, then I would advise you to please bring them with you to the Thursday night classroom segment.

I would be leery of them. How heavy is the leather? If you don't have proper motorcycle boots, then look for something like Docs that have fairly thick leather, but avoid steel toed work boots as Ron mentioned. You're looking for something that will protect your foot and ankle.

I wore these for my course ...
    http://www.payless.com/store/product...splayName=Mens
Sold at Payless Shoes, got a discount on them at the time and ended up paying $40 tax included. The leather is not flimsy and it's not steel-toed.

However, as soon as I passed my course, I got the Alpinestars Ridge Waterproof Boots. The above cheap pair I only use them for walking in the snow/rain. I do not ride with them no more, they just don't provide the protection that's needed with traffic speed.

Nice try, but you need to host this on an FTP site or image hosting site such as picasa, photobucket, imageshack, smugmug etc.

I'm not a sport bike rider but I gotta admit those cbrs are fun.

This is straight out of the Highway Traffic Act for Ontario regarding Helmets in this province:

    Highway Traffic Act
    R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 610
    SAFETY HELMETS
Consolidation Period: From October 27, 2009 to the e-Laws currency date.
    Last amendment: O. Reg. 405/09.
This is the English version of a bilingual regulation.
    1. A helmet worn by a person,
    (a) riding on or operating a motorcycle; or
    (b) operating a motor assisted bicycle,
    on a highway shall,
    (c) have a hard, smooth outer shell lined with protective padding material or fitted with other energy absorbing material and shall be strongly attached to a strap designed to be fastened under the chin of the wearer; and
    (d) be undamaged from use or misuse. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 610, s. 1.
    2. The helmet referred to in section 1 shall conform to the requirements of the,
    (a) Canadian Standards Association Standard D230 Safety Helmets for Motorcycle Riders and shall bear the monogram of the Canadian Standards Association Testing Laboratories;
    (b) Snell Memorial Foundation and shall have affixed thereto the certificate of the Snell Memorial Foundation;
    (c) British Standards Institute and shall have affixed thereto the certificate of the British Standards Institute; or
    (d) United States of America Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218 and shall bear the symbol DOT constituting the manufacturer’s certification of compliance with the standard. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 610, s. 2.
So, DOT, CSA, Snell or BSI is accepted by the MTO and by our course. Does that answer your question?

Can we still contact CuteKill to book a session with Learning Curves?
Yes, we still offer a discounted price in partnership with GTAMotorcycle. PM or send her an email for details, and she'll usually respond within 24 hours if she's not on Vacation.

Please email us at info@learningcurves.ca to let us know to expect you on a given date. If we have an overwhelming response, Don brings in more instructors.

This would be at our 1141 Eastern Avenue location.

Appropriate riding gear is necessary to participate. Last year we had to turn away someone who showed up wearing shorts on his motorcycle.
hi, is the streetproofing for tomorrow still on?
