    Go price ducati performance parts.

OEM wheels used are $1500 a set, those are most likely the Forged magnesium units that go for $3500 a set.

The exhaust system installed on that bike is about $3500 retail for the base and S models.

the 1198R corse exhaust is more.

When you start doing engine work to that bike, the prices go through the roof.

The bodywork pictured looks like it could be at least partially carbon fibre, probably worth $10k for the set.

looking at the wheels, exhaust and bodywork you're close to $20k, its not hard to find another $20k or so in engine parts/work.

I am not knocking the words of the OP,.he is only stating what was told to him and we should all respect that.,..but,.,..i am now stating from my own account of owning a 1098, and now proud owner of a 2010 1198s,..
i have seriously looked into purchasing an "R"...They have come down a bit especially if they are 1098R and not the $50,000 1198R..
Even if the guy who owned the bike modded the hell out of it and changed the engine (i guess the only way to go from an 1098R is to a Desdemodici RR16)...He could have just bought the RR16 Desdemodici for all that monies he has pumped in ,....i am a bit skeptical of his pricing least to say......$100,0000 ?? i smell nonsense brewing....but then again ducati parts and labor isn`t cheap....

    Here's a few more for $100k

    http://www.pegramracing.com/forSale/...8/1198_f08.php

for the bikes listed in the add above, $100k is a bargain.

The first component listed, the Marvel 4 ECU is $10k JUST for the ecu.

    http://www.magneti-marelli.com/product.php?id=2

Its not hard to build $100k into one of these bikes.

You can do it MUCH cheaper, but not everyone wants to do that.

If you've got $1mil annual income, and spend $100k on a bike, its the same as your buddy with $100k annual income spending $10k on a bike, its not too far fetched.

well it's not really the same... the guy with 1 mil$ income spending 100K$ on a bike still has 900K$ left.
the guy with 100K$ income spending 10K$ on a bike has "only" 90K$ left...
