Does anyone know where in the GTA I can find ice studs for dirt bike tires?
Thanks for any info!

Actually any parts and accessories dealer in the GTA can get them for you, most likely will have to be ordered in but that doesn't take long.
You comfortable with making studded tires on your own? always the option to have a set made for you or "ready made" and installed (have plenty of gauze and bandages if you've never done this before...lol)
Pete
and be prepared to have them work poorly if you've never done it.
Building ice tires is an art.
hey donny, what about something like this http://www.sporthoj.com/forum/attach...0&d=1143062851
they look like 17 inch tires, since ive gone tubeless im thinking of trying this, sincei have access to a tire machine and putting tires on and off isnt a big deal, ya think its worth a try or would it be useless ? im not talking about getting the studs to seal air wise, ill figure that one out, im talkin about traction wise, totally unrelated, do you have any done done 17 inch tires kickin around ?
Drew Morrisey built a 180-17 at the SOAR booth this weekend for an R6. I am building a set right now for an F4
Here is a pic from the show
Does the dog come with the tire?
Don't forget tire liners and reduced size inner tube unless you're trying for the road racing studs.
I've seen youtube videos of guys studding their knobby tires with a cordless drill and boxes of screws, so I'll assume that it'd be easier to have the tire mounted, with the liner and the tube installed, so you don't need to worry about sharp studs and rim locks.
These guys had a 1/4" magnetic socket bit that they'd load then fire the stud into the tire.
No, I don't think it was for an ice race, they looked like good ol' boys that wanted to extend their motocross season with some machine screws. :P

ok im gonna do it, now ive gotta source those type studs, i like the washer type thing on each side of the tire, should make sealing easy.
royal distributing.
They are for Snowmobile tracks.
This is the easiest way.

Doug has a few sets of used MX tires set up this way(done properly)
most that try doing it themselves find they get garbage performance
i wanna do it on a set of 17s, so i can use the tire machine and just swap the tires out, i dotn want the hassle of spooning tires on and off, im not a big fan of cold weather riding, so i cant imagine ill do this many times other than to try it
I'm ion the same boat as you Chadta....I'd like to get my DR650 dirt tires (need new ones for dirt next year) and put in some Kold Kutters. Ideally I'd like to find a used set....
Like Recip says...some people get garbage performance...but they only know they had garbage performance once they tried a real set of properly built tires.
If I can't find a used set of properley built tires - (17" rear, 21" front) then I'll probably give the Kold Kutters a try.
Recip - If you have a used 21" for a good price...I'll take that and just kold kut the rear!!
Cheers

You're such a lady.
Lemme check the garage, I might have a box of sled studs that never got used, but I'll probably only have about 300 of them, you'll probably need more, if I've got them, you know where they are, bring beer.
Paul, I'm pretty sure I've got a stack of used MX fronts, I'll dig out a good one for you.
I've got hundreds of brand new sled studs that I can let go for cheap (<$1 each). I will try to find the info tonight and post them up.
I'd hate spooning on cold tires in January, that's for darned sure. :P
This one has some great lean and what I'd normally call drifting.
This VMax is wicked.
