Most of their stuff hasn't been built in USA for awhile now....might as well build the bikes else where too. Sorta defeats the made in America slogan all to hell eh? But America is no longer "the market" it's India and China now.
Maybe we'll see one lung mopeds from HD soon.
I'll take a rice-burner over a curry-burner any day of the week.. At least I expect for the level of quality to rise up to reasonable standards

Harley is building bikes in India, for India. To avoid the importation tarrif
VN9008CF - Candy Lime Green.
Building kits to ship over...but alot of the parts are made elsewhere...might as well ship direct.
I'm sure it will create some US jobs initially and that's good. It is a global market and Made in USA is long gone..at HD. More like some parts are assembled in USA until we find someone cheaper to do it...that's business.
CNN did a piece on this story. The bikes are ASSEMBLED in India, to satisfy local Indo-content laws and avoid punitive tariffs. The bikes are, for now, solely for the Indian market. Nothing that car manufacturers haven't been doing for years. India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, so it makes sense to tap into the market.
The MoCo has been expanding into foreign markets for several years now, notably China and the Middle East. It's Business 101; go where the money is. And in a lot of these countries, Harleys are very desirable and highly coveted. Even in Japan there's a strong loyal following. It seems that only in North America it's fashionable to bash them.
I wave to everybody. Just not you.
Riiiiight. And most BMW GS riders are nothing but a bunch of poseur trendy tough guy wannabe old farts, riding for the image primarily. And most Honda Gold Wing riders are nothing but a bunch of poseur trendy tough guy wannabe old farts, riding for the image primarily. And most cruiser riders are nothing but a bunch of poseur trendy tough guy wannabe old farts, riding for the image primarily. And most Hayabusa riders are nothing but a bunch of poseur trendy tough guy wannabe old farts, riding for the image primarily.

Oh man, has anyone seen the new South Park episode about Harley Riders? That was toooo funny.
Forget world peace. Visualize using your turn signal.
When GM was killing off brands they kept Buick, since Buick is considered a premium status label in China, makes sense that India and china would love Harley.....
There bikes will be a big hit in India, same old 40 year tech they are used to anyway.
No, people ride BMW's, Gold Wings and Hayabusas because they are excellent purpose built bikes. So it doesnt apply. Harley on another hand was associated with tough thugs ever since the day it was born. Decades later, most thugs are gone, and masses of middle aged yuppies or whatever you want to call em are now the riders, TRYING to look tough like the original Harley riders, trying to be rebels during the weekend and working 9-5 during the day.
Pathetic! haha
LOL, quoting from the movie Ronin.
Its the truth, why get all mad about it, there tech is old, if thats your thing, great but its the truth.
