Sand and salt conditions north of the GTA

This coming week looks to be a nice one and I'm thinking about a ride or two towards the Muskoka's and Kawaratha's.

I noticed the other day that some of that lovely salt brine had been sprayed on the 401 near the DVP and was wondering how it is well further north of the GTA for the salt?

I guess this thread could also serve as general sand and salt thread until the roads really turn bad.

    Thanks.

Salt brine on the 115 as well. Today was wet snow all day, Hwy 35 was just wet, no sand or salt yet, but I heard Bancroft got 4 inches the other day.

I had to take the car in to work today as roads in my neighbourhood (Mount Albert) were all icy. The main roads had salt on them and I passed a couple of salt trucks in the area on my way in to work. I'm sure I'll be riding tomorrow.

I'm in Ottawa right now and was thinking about heading back to T.O. on Monday or Tuesday the long way through Calabogie, Barry's Bay, Algonquin and then south through Huntsville. I need to pass through Maynooth or Bancroft for some of that fudge again. Ottawa has about 1-2 inches down now and side roads are icy, but temps are supposed to climb over the next few days.

Any input on what the roads are looking like up there is appreciated.
